Wednesday Reads: Fuck Ian

The latest on Hurricane Ian, click on the NOAA link:

NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER and CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE CENTER

I will post updates in the comments as the day progresses.

Now the cartoons via Cagle:

My family is in the path of Hurricane Ian…my aunt and uncle are refusing to evacuate…the live in Citrus County. Fortunately, it looks like they may be in for some bad storms…for now.

As you can see, it is so frustrating sometimes.

  1. Morning..the 11am update from NOAA will be coming out soon and I will post it shortly. Personally, I have most of my family and friends in Florida…some in Sanibel and Port Charlotte…I hope they will be ok.

JJ hope your relatives find a safe spot somewhere – although looks like most of the state is in deep poo. I grew up on Fort Myers Beach – it breaks my heart when Sanibel gets hit. That’s one of the only barrier islands there that resisted the high-rise hotels, although it is still overbuilt IMO. And I grieve for the wildlife there and in the Everglades.

    • Yeah…I think this is going to be devastating for a good portion of the state.

It sure does look bad. I hope your loved ones will be OK.

Friends in Punta Gorda told me that Jimmy Cantore just checked into a hotel there.

So I’m watching my childhood home of cherished memory being obliterated. I can’t even describe the horror of it. The whole island is awash with water up to the roofs. It’s a largely residential island with grotesque high-rise hotels on the beachfront now. Back in the 1960s it was paradise of course. Cutest little 1960s houses with sunken living rooms and kidney bean pools….

“Worse case scenario” for Fort Myers Beach according to Weather Channel. I just can’t believe how bad this is – and I visited there after Hurricane Charlie in 2005, while they were still trying to rebuild after that one.

Crying rivers of tears here. TBH though, it is a very affluent area now.

So many great cartoons, but my favorite is the one with Trump offering the sharpie to DeSantis.

Record storm surge there in Naples. I’m betting it’s even worse for Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach. FMBCH has been in the eye wall for hours.

Is it wrong to pray that certain higher powers use this storm to wipe Mar-A-Lago off the face of the Earth?

If so I apologize to said powers.
