Party Unity My ASS!

While Bill was held captive in some undisclosed area in Europe,  Hillary Clinton put on her best Democratic face and blue pantsuit then joined the legions of Obama Fluffers.  The big question now remains.  How many deadenders are out there that are not buying this unity marketing campaign?   It appears the Puma Rebellion is now big enough that all the MSM channels and even news papers are noticing.  Yesterday, it was the WaPo. ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/26/AR2008062604162.html) Today, even CNN’s Wolf Blitzer got into the act.

Suddenly, those of us in the PUMA roots were being courted for press interview.  We know the Obama campaign has poured over our sites and when you look threatening enough, assigns you an Obama Troll of your very own.   Our presence has been duely noted, but has not ranked up there enough with sites like No Quarter to achieve multi-trolling.

My mother used to say that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.   This was her way of saying my tongue was way too sharp.  Obama’s minions will occasionally try the honey:  But Hillary says she’s supporting him! (Yeah, I know, most of them are still probably virgins with lines like that!)  ALL the KIDS are DOING IT!!!!  But generally, they ramp up shortly to thwapping you with race cards and nasty labels.  Then the nasty Republican policies enter the equation.  Problem is that John McCain isn’t your standard Republican and Obama has no record to run on.  The only thing you have is his word, and gee his word on FISA, public financing,  hand gun bans or nonbans,  Iran (threat or no threat), and unconditional well, maybe not so unconditional chatting with despots still has me wondering if Obama really knows the meaning of the word truth.

Here’s an NPR editorial. This is the beginning, hopefully, of the Media taking a real hard look at Obama the way that those of us in the PUMA movement have.

So, anyway, there are many folks out there trying to get a headcount on us.  Latest thing I saw on statistics said that about 25% of original Hillary supporters are saying no to Obama and perhaps an additional 10% haven’t figured out what to do yet.    DNC pundits are pounding home historical  trends of chicks coming home to the roost prior to the GE. The Baltimore Sun had  a great article on this called “Painful Lessons” by Dr. Lynette Long.  She outlines the things she’s learned during the Hillary run for President.

source:  http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.women18may18,0,3121832.story

Among the most interesting points in the article is the belief held by the DNC that women will return and vote Obama because they have no place else to go.  They think we’ll just go along with their less-than-evil party niche.

Women voters are not factored into the decision making of the Democratic National Committee. The DNC is concerned that black voters will protest and stay home if Senator Clinton gets the nomination, even though she is the stronger and more electable candidate. But the DNC doesn’t worry that white women, three times larger than the combined black vote, will stay away from the polls if Mrs. Clinton does not get the nomination. They expect the white women of the party to fall in step and vote for Mr. Obama in the general election. ”

This is one chick that is not coming home to roost and I think that the DNC is about to find out that many women have had it with being taken for granted.  Twenty-five percent of 18 million voters is a heck of a lot of people.  Perhaps this sudden awareness of PUMA and JUST SAY NO DEAL and the huge number of MSM articles is due to the number of women responding with utter frustration to their prior sexist and nasty articles and blogs with “PUMA BOMBS”.  This is the PUMA response to the seemingly endless cut and paste political points that have flooded the Hillary blogs and sites for months now.  The difference is that we’re not being paid for it.  Obama’s blog trolls are salaried.  If you watch some of the larger sites (like No Quarter) you can even tell when their shifts change.  The message of the day is pretty much the same and their tactics are similar.

PUMA is an interesting rebel movement.  I’ve long said that I have felt the stirrings of a new women’s movement only to be belittled with charges that it could neve result in a backlash quasi-championed by the Anti-choice McCain with his surly sexist jokes and insulting names for women, including wife Cindy.  However, this belies the major point.  It’s a backlash and a protest.  No one said that actions rooted in anger and injustice make sense.  They are results driven more than dogma driven.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed about the PUMA movement that is ignored by the Obama folks is the incredible amount of diversity in the ranks.  It is not a movement of just white women.  There are women of many backgrounds as well as many men.  I can provide blog names of gay men, African Americans, Asian-Americans, straight men,  Americans of middle eastern and Indian descent,  Native Americans,  and every flavor of Latin/Hispanic American possible.  Here’s a link to Riverdaughter’s The Confluence showing a MAWN speaking to Fox and protestors at the unity event that includes (shock!)  ANTI WAR PROTESTORS!

Many of us (including me) have signed up for the movement and are in for the long haul.  We cannot sit idly by and watch the DNC make a mockery of the democratic process.

    An Action Item we can make happen if we work together:

    However we each decide to vote in November, this summer many Hillary supporters want to show their continued support for Hillary and their anger at the DNC and many Democratic leaders for pushing Hillary out of the race.

    Many Hillary supporters have already made the symbolic gesture to switch their registration from Democrat to independent. (That won’t necessarily influence how they vote). In honor of Independence Day (July 4) we are encouraging other Hillary supporters to do the same — as an organized effort that reflects and respects the differences among us.

    To be effective, we need to tell the Democratic Party and the media that we are doing this. BUT, we don’t want to lose our opportunity to vote in Democratic primaries for Congress that will be held between NOW and November. Those states include:
    Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, NY, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

    For example, many Massachusetts voters are very unhappy with Sen John Kerry’s strong, early support for Barack Obama, especially since the state of Massachusetts was solidly for Hillary. As a result, Sen. Kerry is facing his first primary opposition in more than 2 decades: Ed O’Reilly, a very liberal Democratic who (ironically) is criticizing Kerry in some of the same ways that Obama criticized Clinton — such as voting to allow Bush to deterimine if the US should go to war in Iraq. It appears that the combination of anger about his support for Obama, and anger from Obama supporters who see Kerry as not liberal enough, has resulted in a challenge. Some Hillary supporters will want to send a message to Kerry by voting for O’Reilly. We hope that Hillary suppporters will also ask O’Reilly about his views on election fraud during the presidential caucuses, etc. Meanwhile, for more info see http://www.edoreilly.com/

    THEREFORE: I propose that each of us write to Democratic Party leaders before July 4 to say some version of the following:

    1. I am an enthusiastic supporter of Hillary Clinton for president and am very disappointed in the undemocratic decisions of the DNC and Party leadership that undermined her campaign.
    a. The DNC took four Michigan delegates that Hillary had won and gave them to Obama
    b. The DNC punished two states that Hillary had won big, Florida and Michigan, by cutting their delegates in half, but did not punish two states that Obama had won which also held their primaries earlier than the DNC rules allowed.
    c. Despite the extremely close race, the Democratic leadership kept telling the media and Hillary herself that she should get out of the race. Their behavior was insulting and unfair.

    2. That is why I am changing (or have just changed) my registration from Democrat to Independent (OPTIONAL: you may want to add: but only after the Democratic Congressional primary is held in my state)
    3. OPTIONAL: Some of you may want to say: I will not give money to the Democratic Party until I see an acknowledgement of the need for real change, such as eliminating undemocratic processes, such as caucuses. The caucuses are much less democratic than primaries, and in 2008 there was a great deal of election fraud, with many caucus participants not living in the precincts or even the state where they caucused.
    4. OPTIONAL: Some of you may want to say: I will not support Barack Obama because he did not win the popular vote, and he was selected rather than farily elected. Those of you who plan to vote for Barack Obama can say so, or just not mention your voting plans.

    We ask that those of you living in states that do NOT have primaries coming up change your registration before July 4. Those living in states that have primaries should wait. I have attached a calendar of Congressional primaries.

    REMINDER: Your registration does not affect how you vote in November. It also does NOT influence how the media polls show Democrats are going to vote or have voted UNLESS you choose to tell pollsters how you are registered. That’s up to you.

    We had planned to ask you to write to the DNC, but the DNC has now been taken over by the Obama campaign. They have moved their operations to Chicago and the DNC web site is now all about Obama (see http://www.dnc.org/).

    So, instead, please contact YOUR U.S. Senators, your Congressional representative, AND the following Democratic leaders or DNC members. You can send to all of them at once if you’d like to, except Harry Reid needs to go through his web site:

    Al Gore: Kalee@carthagegroup.com;
    Nancy Pelosi: sfpelosi@yahoo.com; john.lawrence.mail.house.gov;
    Steny Hoyer: Ben.Abrams@mail.house.gov;
    Senate Democratic Committee: info@dscc.org; press@dscc.org;
    House Democratic Committee: info@dccc.org;
    DNC: ausman@embarqmail.com; james_roosevelt@tufts-health.com;
    mame@thereileygroup.com; gss1@aol.com

    Harry Reid: http://reid.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm

    To actually change your registration, google your state voter registration info. It’s easy!
    For example, for Maryland, http://www.elections.state.md.us/voter_registration/index.html
    DC: http://www.dcboee.org/voterreg/vic_index.shtm
    California: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm
    NY: http://www.elections.state.ny.us/
    NJ: http://www.stevens.edu/student_life/voter-reg-form.pdf

    Please let me know if you do this! Thanks!

    On Clinton’s claimed sexism

    The Clinton’s have been complaining of sexism since Obama surprised them in Iowa, neglecting, of course, to mention that he was considered a shoe-in, and never planned for a campaign past Feb 5.

    At one point, my sister asked me, “Do you think racism or sexism is worse in this country, because I feel more racism than sexism in my life.”

    There is no doubt that sexism an racism exist in this country, but what is galling, I think for people of color is that while study after study show that minority males have no problem with a wife that earn more than they do, are supportive of wives and mothers in the workforce (indeed, minority women have ALWAYS been in the workforce -many times for Anglo women as housekeepers, Au Pairs, babysitters, nursemaids, etc), and much more likely to share chores, they are thrown into the same group of men who don’t.

    The men the Clinton’s are accusing of sexism are Anglo males. The Clinton’s themselves were as likely to portray the women attached to Bill in demeaning terms. They didn’t rise to the defense of Lewinsky while she was ridiculed for her weight, her looks, her intelligence, and other topics for derision. Moreover, Clinton’s womanizing has never been much of an issue for Hillary (apparently).

    Click to access 8229358_37_1.pdf

    Shortly after it became clear Hillary would not prevail, the NASCAR lawsuit became public. Reading this woman’s experiences is not for the faint of heart. Yet, there were Anglo women she worked with who did nothing to improve conditions for the woman who suffered horrendous treatment at the hands of sexist males. Gloria Steinem has had nothing to say about the suit.

    These are THE VERY SAME PEOPLE Hillary tried to build her campaign on in West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, and other parts of the NASCAR universe. What is particulrly galling is not this irony, nor the irony of Bill’s infidelities as a Good ‘Ole Boy – What is partiularly galling is that the women who decried Obama’s winning message (using all sorts of Affirmative Action codewords) as “just words,” were the very same women who raised the men they accused of Sexism.

    I have seen the Hillary’s supporters here (I mean RIGHT HERE in Kansas) defend their boys when they raped, beat, and demeaned women -some of whom were my dear friends. One of my best friends was beaten by her husband (an Anglo) and her mother-in-law (a strident Hillary supporter who pledges to vote for McCain [who didn’t flinch when another Anglo woman called Clinton a b**** http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/11/14/video-of-mccain-supporter_n_72652.html and hs on wife a C*** http://rawstory.com/news/2008/McCain_temper_boiled_over_in_92_0407.html%5D immediately declared she deserved the beating. The husband had never cleaned his own house, cooked his own meals, or done his own laundry – his mom had always done it for him.

    It wasn’t Hillary’s suporters who defended Michelle Obama -It was LAURA BUSH. Which tells me the sexist claim is a specious one.

    If Hillary’s supporters want to eliminate sexism, they should take look at their own boys. The NASCAR dads had moms who let them grow up that way.

    A word of advice for the Hillary or no one crowd -Get your own house in order before you begin to accuse me of sexism.
