I have an emergency here, and I’m not going to be able to write a normal post. My water heater died and leaked all over my basement. On top of that, I’m having some strange computer problems. I have to clean up the mess in the basement and also figure out what I’m going to do next; so I’m just going to give you some links to check out for now. Sorry to have to do this on such an important news day!
Breaking SCOTUS News
New York Times: Supreme Court Deadlocks on Obama Immigration Plan. It Remains Blocked.
Washington Post: Supreme Court upholds University of Texas affirmative action admissions.
On the House Sit Down Protest
Raw Story: Democrats wind down gun violence ‘sit in’ after occupying House.
New York Times: House Democrats Gun Gun-Control Sit Down Turns into Chaotic Showdown with Republicans.
LA Times: ‘No bill, no break’: House Democrats continue sit-in protest into early morning.
Buzzfeed: ACLU Opposes Latest Effort To Bar Those On Terrorism Watch Lists From Buying Guns.
Boston Globe: Paul Ryan, what are you afraid of?
Vox: Democrats took over the House floor to demand a vote on guns. They even shouted down Paul Ryan.
CNN: GOP fails to stop Democrats’ gun control sit in on House floor.
Donald Trump
Despite Campaign Woes, Trump Flies to Scotland to Tend to Business Interests.
I didn’t see Trump’s speech yesterday, but Michelle Goldberg thinks it was effective even though it was a pack of lies. She says the problem is that debunking the lies is requires complex explanations. Goldberg is quite liberal and she is feminist who wrote a book about women’s reproductive rights.
Washington Post: Trump’s top example of foreign experience: A Scottish golf course losing millions.
Presidential Politics
This story from Politico is really worrying to me: Kaine rises to the top of Clinton’s veep list.
Cincinnati.com: Hillary Clinton coming to Cincinnati Monday with Elizabeth Warren.
Politico: Hillary Clinton racks up business endorsements.
Washington Post op ed by Bernie Sanders: Here’s What We Want. I’d be willing to bet that 80% of the country wishes Bernie would quit whining and go away.
Boston Globe: Where does Bernie Sanders go from here? He’s giving a speech tonight. Isn’t that wonderful? Ugh!
Have great day!

Hillary Clinton Reassures House Democrats 2016 Is Not Just About Her
It’s also about taking back Congress.

BB lots of good links today. I’m sick to my stomach over T-rump’s nasty speech!
Good luck with the water heater….I’ve been there! No fun mopping up a wet basement.
Thanks. A young guy just came from the plumber’s to clean up the water. I guess they’ll install it after that.
That’s a bad situation. A few years ago my hot water heater sprung a leak and flooded my entire basement. My homeowners paid for the clean up and the property that was ruined by the flood. Your homeowners may cover some or all of the expense of clean up and damages, although it won’t pay to replace the hot water heater.
why don’t people put those pans underneath a water heater like they do under the washing machines. With a drain so that homes are not damaged by something that is almost inevitable. Water heaters are only supposed to last 6 to 10 years. Why take the chance of ruining all your possessions when a solution is at hand?
BB, I’m sorry you’re having such a crappy day.
I will say that Michelle Goldberg is a long time Hillary hater, so I wouldn’t put much stock in her opinion of Trump’s “speech.”
Go away Bernard.
Bernard, stop having campaign events and giving campaign speeches. The Voters have spoken and the answer was:
The tv commentators just sped right pass Hillary’s fantastic speech in Raleigh. She was excellent in outlining her economic agenda and spent little time reacting to Trump. Yea! The speech had to be heard in toto without commentary to be appreciated for also Hilary was as confident and comfortable as I’ve witnessed. I even thought about giving to her campaign, stingy me!
She still doesn’t get the coverage that T-rump does! Frustrating!!!
Well, hell. She’s outlining an economic agenda. Gawd. ‘Slike being back in journamalism school and learning about gerunds or something.
But tRump! tRump is farting into his baseball cap! Wooo! Story!
/*rolls eyes too much, has to massage eyeballs to get them to face forward again*/
ROFLOL
Heard on the news today. In fact, the survey found that most Americans expect their financial situations will either stay the same (66%) or become worse (24%) No matter who wins the election. Part of the negative sentiment appears to stem from the failure of presumptive nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to talk about their proposed housing and finance policies. I guess they haven’t been paying attention the Hill.
They have ended the sit-in at the House. Big group outside, rousing speech by John Lewis and a couple of rounds of “We Shall Overcome”………takes me back 😀
I heard John Lewis on the radio at the end of the sit-in and got a little choked up. He is a giant. No joke. And NON-VIOLENCE is due for a come back!
For Sanders and his whinners, think about the alternative as analyzed here by The Economist:
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/economist-trump-presidency-global-risk-220887
Everyone acknowledges that Trump is lying but the spin varies. Some news venues almost act like it is cute that Trump is spewing crazy conspiracy theories and lies in a Presidential campaign. Since the subject of the lies is a Clinton it is fine. I am hoping that the electorate is not that stupid.
Honestly, the thing that I think will turn them is the use of campaign funds to feather his own nest. That is the kind of betrayal even a rednecjed moron can understand. As more comes out about how he is pocketing their dough, he will begin to see their loyalty soften.
But everyone keeps ‘hoping’ but no one of merit is standing up and saying ‘stop the deprecating, offensive talk, we’re better than that.’ Stop the lying these (quotes) are out and out lies.
Because until someone who is fully trusted does, people will continue to believe that Hillary is lying, is crooked, is not to be trusted – there are many who believe the horrid things he says about her.
Holy Mother help us now in our hour of need.

WTF?!!!
They announced that the was going to work for CNN. Yuk.
that was fast. could he have been hired before he was fired by the orange one? Could this have been arranged? I would not put it past some of the people involved.
I love this quote from Charles Pierce on the Supreme Court. Hi Bernie.
“Tell me again how this upcoming election doesn’t matter. Tell me again how there’s no real difference between the two major candidates. Tell me again why you would risk having a vulgar talking yam appoint the tie-breaking justice, and likely at least two others besides. Tell me again why you’re voting for Gary Johnson or Jill freaking Stein. Then tell the four million people whose lives just got tossed into the MixMaster”.
“I’ll hold your coat, and call the ambulance when they’re done with you”.
Great quote.
Hope the plumber gets you back up and the water wasnt damaging! Thx for the links!
I got the water heater replaced, but I’m so stressed out. I’ll have to work on the mess tomorrow.
BB, I’m so sorry, about water heater. It happened to me twice and once with a 50 gallon fish tank! I now don’t have carpet, but living in Florida I don’t care, I think I have hit the age of “It’s O.K”. No vacuum pushing,. my knees
We went through it, about a month after moving into our new home 25 years ago in the middle of a 99° summer – thank God we had insurance – they came in and redid the whole basement for us and we got a new water heater. I know how overwhelming it is and how it upsets the rhythm of your life.
Sit, put your feet up and have a nice cup of tea (or you other favorite adult beverage)
I don’t know if it comes in threes……….but I had bad tax situation, my water heater went out, and had to replace a microwave/with air ducts……That was just a few months back.
Hope you get it all back together and soon BB.

I don’t know if that’s legit or not.

Leave won and the global financial markets are melting.
I’m looking forward to your Brexit post. 😉
I’m sitting here trying to sort it out now. This is not good.
Agreed. I feel especially sorry for the working people who were misled into voting for the Brexit. They will be hurt the most. Everyone doesn’t have to be an Economist, but it sure would be nice if everyone was taught basic Economics.
I can’t believe that CNN actually hired Cory Lewandowski. Now they are paying him to support Trump and Trump gets him at no cost.
He joins Jeffrey Lord and Kayleigh McEnany. Both T-rump rabid supporters! Eeeeewwwww!
“Our media”, after watching, across the board, all channels:They act like Trump, not calling anyone inferior, translation , “not white” in his speech must mean he can change and run a normal campaign. Hillary can be brilliant, qualified, educated with real policies. It must be a low bar to beat a woman. Like the way we get paid.Trump gets 21% advantage in lies and stupid. Mother Mary help us.
I just saw this in a comment thread.
Let’s face it: Donnie could waltz out to the podium, fart loudly, point at Hillary and walk off and his entire constituency would anoint him The Greatest Debater of All Time
Yeah that’s because his supporters are the stupidist of the stupid.
ITV and BBC are calling Brexit as LEAVE.
I can’t wait to hear what Kat has to say about this…
What really concerns me is the resurrection of nationalism/fascism.
I fell asleep listening to the reporting on the BBC and I had weird dreams about being in Germany with people talking about it.
I have heard it reported that many are saying, ” I voted for Brexit as a protest, I never thought it would pass. I am not sure I want to leave the EU.”
Ironic twist on the old, ” He f*cking won?” joke.
“Protest” votes tend to turn around and bite you in the a**.
Don’t they though.
“Can you hear men now?” #BernieButts
Brexit chaos begins. Financial markets shaking.

Bernie says, “I will probably vote for Clinton?” What a huge pile of sh!t he turns out to be. I hope that the DNC gives him nothing at the convention. One, he hasn’t done nothing to earn any concessions, and two, with every successive petulant pouty little statement his value diminishes. The loser doesn’t call the shots. We learned that when we got ripped off in 2008. Now, I hope the Dems show some backbone. Tell old fcuk nuts to fcuk off!
Amen, brother!
I find it curious that the losing side in Britain isn’t calling the whole Brexit thing ‘rigged’, and demanding retroactive rule changes, and ‘fighting till the final dissolution’, etc. The percent of the vote between stay and go was a lot closer than between Hillary and Bernie… what’s with those Brits?
Have you guys seen this? I loved it.
