Saturday Night Comfort, Aid & Pleasure Krewe
Posted: January 12, 2013 Filed under: open thread | Tags: favorite things, open thread 20 CommentsSo, it’s been an endlessly gloomy week. I honesty can’t say when I last saw the sun. It’s been a week of rain, grey clouds, and dense fog. Here’s a few of my favorite things. Please share yours!!
Cool Jazz and Hot Sax!!
Red Wine!!
(Especially when they are good and under $20.)
1) 2010 Evodia Old Vines Garnacha – Simply Superb!
This $8 wine from Calatayud, Spain is no stranger to our Top 10 lists! Consistently good vintage to vintage this savory wine features juicy blackberry, blueberry and raspberry along with a fantastically smooth mouthfeel. It’s hard to get much better than this for under 10 bucks. 100% Garnacha.
Good News!!!
Record number of women in Senate
January 3, 2013 4:16 PM
Of the 13 new senators who took the oath, five of them were women, bringing the ranks of women senators to 20 – a full one-fifth of the legislative body.
My Girls!!!
(That’s me, Doctor Daughter, Baby Daughter, and my Sister at Doctor Daughter’s Wedding in Colorado.)
and of course
My Dear, Sweet Friends at Sky Dancing!!!!
Oh, did I forget chocolate?

Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, preferably made with Claussen dill pickle slices.
My mom used to loves those.
I prefer sweet pickle slices & MIracle Whip on my peanut butter sandwiches. I’ve never run into anyone before that does peanut butter & pickle. Most are pb&j only.
Never tried peanut butter and pickles sandwiches. Have to give it a try one day 🙂
Nope, me either, but I can’t seem to see how those two ingredients could make a good combination.
You need to because it is really good.
“peanut butter and pickles”
(retch) Uh, no, thanks. I’ll never understand. But the Evodia Old Vines sounds like a winner.
The Beatles.
One of my favorites. Thanks.
So good to see you!!!
I just finished watching one of my favorite movies, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?
Saw another favorite last night…It’s a mad mad mad mad world.
And…get to see another favorite, The Little Foxes later on. Happy Happy, Joy Joy!
and this remake: Baby Jane…in drag:
Okay, so those are parodies…jokes.
This is not a joke: Patriotic Group To Build Armed ‘Defensible’ Neighborhood Fortress | CNS News
Oh boy…that is a relief.
This is the CNSnews “article” currently making headlines on drudge…feeding the obvious crazies out there.
Wow.
I’m going to guess the Fox take on this: “Obama administration is putting American patriots in concentration camps!”
I believe they call them FEMA camps.
Oh right. Either way, I’m glad that these people would self-exile themselves somewhere far away from the rest of us.
Yeah, I linked to a article on that sometime back when commenting a few weeks ago. That part of Idaho is full of paranoid rightwingnuttery. I recall one of the requirements for residency was gun-owning. Maybe we can hope they’ll all blow each other up, squabbling about keeping noses out of neighbors’ business but making sure everyone wears the right kind of underwear.
I must have missed it! That citadel thing is just way too freaky for me.
Dak, that photo of your family is lovely!
Agree, what a bevy of beauties.
Thanks!!! I love them all dearly!!!
