Breitbart’s Legacy—Really?

Following Andrew Breitbart’s untimely death, we heard the right-wing’s declaration: We have the goods on President Obama, they said..  We have the proof that the media protected him, didn’t properly vet the President of the United States.

Let me perfectly clear.  I am a life-long Democrat. I did not vote for Barack Obama in 2008, nor will I vote for him in 2012.  I am a voter without a candidate and have vowed to go 3rd party in November.  I am a FDR Democrat, which is something President Obama clearly is not.

I’ve listened to all the comparisons: President Obama is Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Jack Kennedy, etc., ad nauseum.

No, he’s none of the above.  But he’s also not the socialist, possibly Marxist, he-will-bring-the world-down, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian radical, who hates all white people and will act like Chairman Mao [see Michelle Bachmann at her craziest], possibly Attila the Hun, if reelected in 2012.  And  definitely, President Obama will not blow kisses to Iran because he secretly wants the Persians to win and destroy the civilized world.

He is not an Emperor or an Imperial Dictator, ready to program our children to a One World  philosophy.  He is simply a man and a bad president.  In my estimation, he was a man not prepared for the job.  It shows [screams], badly.  But I actually agree with Barack Obama’s recent self-assessment: he’s gotten better as the time went on.  But also—IMHO–not enough.  Particularly with a right-wing that’s ever more toxic, ever more ridiculous. You cannot compromise with these people [and I use the term ‘people’ loosely].

Let me state this with absolute clarity: You. Cannot. Appease. These. People.

Particularly, when the Big Smoking Gun, the proof that the President of the United States is unqualified, unveiled is presumably proven with the following.  Btw, I have my own personal unanswered questions.  But this?  This is pure bullsh*t:

If this is what the right-wing, OMG the world-is-coming-to-an-end and we must vote for one of the crazy, I-will-say-anything-candidates in the offering?

You lose Republicans.

You will be disemboweled, hung on a stake, made to disavow Bambi!  You think you can rake women over the coals, call us sluts, prostitutes, demand to see our sex tapes, use a transvaginal probe to humiliate us, and then pretend that this footage proves anything?

Are you serious?

The future President of the United States gives a statement, as a student, about a professor he admires, one who suggested that there was a problem with cultural diversity [seeing that said professor was the only black professor at Harvard, he  may have had a point], and further suggested that our legal system just might have a legal bias, depending on the judge in question ruling in a particular case.  And that is an indictment?

Oh, the horror!  The great unfairness!

Well, bite down on this, America.  We represent 5% of the world’s population, yet we house 25% of the world’s prison population.  And a disproportionate number of those prisoners are minorities—of the black and brown complexion.

An accident?  A great freak of nature?

Then look at the video again.  Try not to throw rotten vegetables.  If this were an Onion production, I might laugh.  But it’s not.  All I feel is utter disgust.  The Great Hug-Gate is upon us.  Fox News and Sean Hannity look and sound like absolute idiots.

Because they are!

I am not and never have been a supporter of President Obama [and yes, he is the President of these United States].

For God’s sake, grow up and get use to it!

But this?  This attack is complete, unadulterated garbage.

Peggy, great post! Like you I did not support Obama in 2008 and am surprised to find myself doing it now. The alternatives though are just too far and the entire right wing seems to have gone completely batshit insane.

Frankly, Obama seems to have grown into the job somewhat, finally. At least it’s possible and I’m gonna keep telling myself that until proved wrong by facts.

Hannity’s treating two men hugging as the previously unknown Fifth Horseman of the Apolalypse.

I watched this ralph and something exploded behind my eyeballs. I don’t even like the President but this . . . this is flat out stupid and deranged. Two men hugging. OMG.
The Republicans have turned into an absolute freak show.

Sad testimony to Breitbart [who frankly I couldn’t stomach] if this is all they have. Yikes!

They are also being sexist in their hate…the protest and volunteer sabbatical was because of the lack of minority women tenured professors. To me that also figures in on the anti-woman crap they are peddling now.

That’s part of what really sickens me, minx–the raw hate. The public mouthpieces spout this garbage. I’m not sure they even believe it but the invectives bring out the worst in the public, particularly those who already have . . . problems with blacks, with immigrants, with women, with whoever. It’s the great scapegoating.

We’ve got serious problems in this country. The Republicans have no answers. All they have are excuses and rage. They’re totally bankrupt.

And no, I didn’t mention the sexism in the rant, beyond the most recent examples. Good point!

  2. is if the best they can do is a hug . thats sad

Unbelievable. They’re trying to create another Wright affair and this is a sad sad case.

This is screwed. Even the Heritage Foundation’s blog is pushing crap about this. These guys are circling the drain with this stuff.

Lawyers, Guns & Money: The Greatest Scandal There Absolutely Ever Was, Except For Steroids!

Look, I would like to bury this, but this is just too big to be suppressed: Barack Obama made his students read Derrick Bell, the legal academy’s preeminent Critical Race Theorist.. in a course dealing with Racism and the Law! Bell had all of these crazy radical ideas like “white supremacy was deeply embedded within American law” and “the effects of centuries of legalized and informal white supremacy did not immediately vanish on January 1, 1965.” I expect the impeachment votes in both the House and Senate to be unanimous.

I especially like the “made his students read” language. I guess wingers these days are hippie types who think doing class readings should be optional, man.

    Properly mocking the wingnuts.

    • peggysue22's avatar peggysue22 says:

So, according to the right-wing, everything was settled on racism on January 1, 1965. Poof! All bigotry vanished. Guess the same applies to sexism after women got the vote.

      Hahahaha.

If you didn’t read that post, please do. They’re left and awfully funny lawyers.

However, there are some supporters of Breitbart declaring this stupidity a “triumph”.

The fact that it was shown on PBS 4 years ago and sitting on their shelves since then is enough to send these idiots into raptures. Duh!

Breitbart was a headcase. HIs acolytes like James O’Keefe are the same. And Hannity should have been locked up years ago for his own sake and ours as well.

The vein of hatred runs deep in this nation, promoted by the likes of Rush, Breitbart, Drudge and others who appeal to a crowd of non thinkers drooling at their every word and inference.

If this is all they’ve got there is not much meat on the bone. I too am not defending Obama just reaching for a sense of proportional decency and laughing at something as trite as this “discovery”.

He sure left a fine legacy behind if this is the result.

    • peggysue22's avatar peggysue22 says:

And that’s what it is: common decency. I don’t have to like President Obama to recognize blatant propaganda and lying when I see and hear it. And that’s what this is.

It’s Derrick Bell or Saul Alinski. It’s men hugging–Ooooo. It’s Marxism or Michelle Bachmann claiming POTUS is going to dictate how many children we can have under the Affordable Care Act. The world is going to end. The Iranians are going to nuke us into oblivion.

      Come on!

I have serious problems with the man. But this is flat-out stupid.

  6. janicen's avatar janicen says:

The Republicans had plenty of opportunity to take Obama down back in 08 but they didn’t. They sat on their hands up until the convention because they wanted anybody but Clinton. Then they provided weak support of McCain because he wasn’t conservative enough for them. Give it up nutjobs, you got the President you thought you wanted. You thought you could tolerate him for one term, but you could beat him and avoid a second term. Isn’t really working out that way, is it? Is Karl Rove going to pal around with Donna Brazille this time around?

Absolutely right, peggysue. This is bullshit. If they think this “bombshell” and whining about high gas prices is going to win them this election, they’re crazier than I thought they were.

  7. NW Luna's avatar NW Luna says:

Well, yes, the media was and is soft on Obama, and he wasn’t properly vetted. He’s still a DINO who’s clueless. Hint: we don’t want bipartisanship, we want a real Dem.

But the Repubs have put “mean and crazy” on steroids.

    • ralphb's avatar ralphb says:

Yes they have and, for proof, just look at what’s going on in the states they took over in 2010. These people are a damn nightmare and it won’t be any better if they get full control in DC either. I doubt we’ll recognize our country after they’ve had it under their thumbs for a few years.
