Bruce Dixon: Barack’s Satan Sandwich Only The First Course: Will We Re-Hire the Chef in 2012 Anyway?

Rep. Cleaver got it right….. the deal coming out of the debt hoax IS a Satan Sandwich with a side order of Satan Fries. But the master chef in that kitchen, the man who put “entitlements on the table” in the first place is President Barack Obama. The Satan Sandwich could not have been created without his willing, even enthusiastic cooperation, and it’s just the first course in a loathsome banquet.

Thanks to chef Obama, a “supercommittee” of a dozen members of Congress has assumed the power to repeal decades of progressive legislation by simply cutting the funds for it. By 2012 all the prattle about “hope” and “change” will ring hollow for millions. We’ll be chowing down on that second course, with a new pretend-crisis debt ceiling upon us. The progressives and Congressional Black Caucus members who are edging away from President Obama now will be reminding us that after all, he’s black, not white, and a Democrat, not a Republican. Republicans are white supremacists, remember?

The progressive Democrats will be reminding us that we have no choice — not because we have no choices, but because they have already made theirs. Political progressives are, after all, married to their careers, not to the people. As long as our vision stretches no further than the next election, they almost make sense.

But if we take the view of the historic Freedom Movement we know that the next election, or the next three don’t tell the whole story. Limiting our own vision to what elected officials and their consultants deem “polticially possible” is always a dead end. Fifty and fifty-five years ago all the demands of the Freedom Movement were “premature”, “unrealistic” and “political suicide” for so-called progressives already in office.

It’s time to get unrealistic and unreasonable again

Obama is also half white — and culturally mostly white — and friends and backers — mostly all white.

But the poor are white as well. This is class warfare.

He’s been hitting it out of the park lately. Fantastic!

You’ve got to read some of these #ImMadAsHellBecause tweets. There’s amazing energy out there.

A couple links here: Tavis Smiley White House Invitation | Cornel West | Video | Mediaite

Tavis Smiley and Cornel West continued their media tour on C-Span this morning, and expressed frustration with President Obama over a much more personal issue than merely not talking about poverty. Smiley noticed that Obama invited Bill O’Reilly to the White House, but he himself has yet to receive an invitation from the President, who regularly appeared on his show before being elected President.

Smiley suggested he wasn’t crying about being ignored by Obama, but since he was asked, he was willing to answer the question:

“Once he got elected and my critique of him about holding him accountable to various things didn’t sit so well with him or the people around him, he has not at this point come on my TV or radio programs one time since he’s been in the White House. This is the first president in my professional career that hasn’t invited me to the White House.”

West shared the disappointment, noting that Obama is “wrong” for neglecting Smiley and Roland Martin, in favor of inviting “right-wing brothers” like O’Reilly and Sean Hannity to the White House. Clearly O’Reilly was in the White House, interviewing Obama during the Super Bowl, however West’s allegation about Hannity also rubbing elbows with the President seems a bit far-fetched. Regardless, West warns “when [Obama] moves into campaign mode, it’s going to be different.” That seems to suggest they expect Obama will embrace them when they are needed during the next election, but was West’s tone just cryptic enough to possibly suggest that what might be “different” next time is how warmly he will embrace Obama’s return?

    Then there is this:

Obama Slipping: Black America Waking Up – To the Nightmare | Black Agenda Report

The final unraveling of Obamaism – at root, a kind of delirium centered on a corporate-crafted Great Black Hope – will be nowhere near complete until the hallucinogen is substantially purged from the psyche of its core constituency, Black America.

I’m in a ranting mood tonight since the Red Sox are losing and we all know what that does to my mood swings.

Ed Schultz is also on a rant, poking Obama for not coming to WI and at least showing some interest in that crucial recall vote. You can tell that Ed is sick to death of President Indifferent when he highlighted the press conference today with Jay Carney who admitted to a reporter who had stayed up all night waiting for the WI results that he had no idea if Obama had been following the results there.

Which means we are truly royally f*cked to put it mildly. How can this man who will rely on those votes in 2012 be so indifferent to his base? Unless he actually believes that the clowns from the other side will be so ineffective during the course of the campaign that the nation will have no other choice but to vote him back in again. And that is a huge mistake since most of the people he needs to attract have very short attention spans and all they need are a few glossy ads to encourage them to vote for the other guy. He should know this since that is exactly how he came to power in the first place.

I don’t watch tv — only video clips via Internet. First time I’ve heard Al Sharpton — thumbs down on him. Worst ever anchor.

  7. madamab says:

This quote is perfect (from Bruce Dixon):

Professional Democrats — including almost all black elected and appointed officials on local, state and federal levels, and a class of wannabees a layer below them — have tied themselves to this president, no matter what he does or doesn’t do. They have become his indispensable enablers, shields and apologists. It is they who are accountable to the president, rather than the president being held to any meaningful accountability by those that elected him. Accountability, they say, is seriously overrated. After all, he’s black, not white, and a Democrat, not a Republican. That’s all we need to know. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the elected officials and other political figures, the Tavis Smileys and the Cornel Wests who are edging away from Barack Obama now will beg us to circle the wagons around him one more time in 2012. (smphasis mine)

That is exactly why I can’t take these guys seriously. March 2012 will come around, and it will be all about “Booga Booga! Mitt Romney is a racist!” Yawn.

    • bostonboomer says:

Except it will not be Mitt Romney.

      • Sima says:

I don’t think it’ll be Romney either. I dunno who, but not him.

As for the professional Democrats, they need to grow some spines. Enough is enough.

  8. Pat Johnson says:

This is what Rachel covered on her show tonight. Some of these people give the truly insane a bad name. One of the pastors she presented spoke of the Emperor of Japan have sexual intercourse with a “harlot goddess” which brought about the recent tsunami. Another nutjob also pointed out that the actual “harlot goddess” is none other than Oprah Winfrey! I kid you not.

These are the people behind the Rick Perry for President campaign. Droolers!

Great selection of righteous rants. Thanks! During Bernie’s spiel I murmured, ‘Man, will he marry me? Or maybe run for President or something?’ My partner’s head shot around and he gazed at the old man on the screen, then stopped worrying. Hehehehehe.
