Sunday Morning Open Thread

Matisse-Woman-Reading-with-Tea1

Good Morning!!

Here a very quick open thread to use until JJ puts up one of her brilliant Sunday posts. I’m still fired up about Hillary’s great win last night. I don’t care what the corporate media says, or what Bernie Sanders says, or what Tad Devine and Jeff Weaver say. I believe in Hillary Clinton.

Hillary has been tested and her strength has been honed through years of dealing with the worst the right wing noise machine could spew at her. She will not let us down. She is going to be the first woman President of the United States, and she will do the job well.

I can’t wait to vote for Hillary on March 1!!

Here are a few headlines to check out this morning.

Washington Post: Clinton defeats Sanders in Nevada; black voter support appears decisive.

New York Times: Hillary Clinton Beats Bernie Sanders in Nevada Caucuses.

Huffington Post: Civil Rights Legend Says Sanders Supporters Yelled ‘English Only’ At Her.

Vox: Nevada caucus results 2016: a clear win for Hillary Clinton.

Jamie Bouie: Hillary Clinton’s Path Is Clear. Barring a catastrophe, her nomination is inevitable.

Huffington Post: Exclusive: Mitt Romney To Endorse Marco Rubio. (That will be his death warrant.)

CNN: Trump predicts he’ll face Clinton, break turnout records.

Politico: GOP elders want poorly performing candidates to quit

What are you hearing and reading?

Don’t believe the Sanders campaign’s claims of winning with Latino voters in Nevada. Hillary won them by 20 points.

I’ve never seen such liars in the Democratic Party as the Sanders crew.

You got that right. I saw that claim in a headline in the NYT last night but when I went to the article there was no mention of data to back it up. From what I understand, there is one entrance poll that makes that claim but that Hillary won 60% of the Latino districts. Even if the claim is correct, we have to keep in mind that it was a caucus so working Latinos could not attend and the total number of votes cast was around 11,000. That’s extremely low turnout and does not reflect what will happen in the general election.

The final tally was released last night. The claims of Bernie winning Latinos was based on entrance polls that were inaccurate.

Hillary won with the help of union casino workers because Harry Reid pressured the Culinary union and other unions to get their members out. Some of them clocked out in order to caucus.

And yes, the turnout so far has been low. Bernie’s “revolution” is not happening.

I tell you Trapper and Anderson are giving a shout out that Latinos favored him and not Hillary! It’s selling, because they refuse to listen to Hillary, the usual dicks.

I swear to god these are ratfucking plants. We witnessed this after the fact in the 2008 campaign. The GOP knows they have a better shot defeating Sanders than Hillary in the general. Sanders must know this and should get out now and throw his support behind her in order to prevent a major debacle in November. Too much is at stake. Imagine Trump, Cruz or Rubio picking SC justices?

While the press keeps asking Hillary about her “integrity” Trump and the other two march on unquestioned by the press regarding their own lack thereof: they continue to lie on a daily basis and go unscathed. Unbelievable!

This nation is suffering from a “know nothing” problem as Trump keeps rising in the polls. The worst of us is promoting this asshole. Racist, sexist, and mean spirited candidates dominate the dialogue and no one suffers. Yet the Hillary coverage is primarily a put down of the most experienced candidate to enter the race.

It is difficult to wrap my head around the adulation for candidates who would attack Planned Parenthood and pledge to close its doors based on such hatred toward women while at the same time advocating that rape victims must carry the fetus of their attacker to term. Shameful.

This is what the GOP stands for and it is demoralizing that it goes unchallenged while Hillary is vilified repeatedly.

It is frightening to contemplate a Trump, Cruz or Rubio win. But it could happen. If so we are screwed. Big time.

They are so full of horse pucky, and spreading their lies and fears, much the way the republicans are doing.

Hillary has the facts, and we know the Latino’s………..I bet you Bernie and his Sanderditas didn’t even know who our Chicana was (Dolores Huerta). They don’t even know she was married to Cesar Chavez, and that she started out as young girl in the fields in Delano.

We should be pissed, you don’t respect our sister, when you do you disrespect us, and we won’t be forgetting. The divide they are creating, because they are driven by the lies of Bernie, who thinks that he is succeeding……….He is NOT. His revolution is NOT our thing, it’s his, and we have low expectations from him, by looking at his record, and looking at his campaign. Piss ass poor, and negative, and his student deserved a “F”……….You…

So just to tell you, that a few Sanders fans, that I read, on FB, who were upset with Huerta, because they believe that the UFW harassed and beat illegal immigrants, back in the day, and they blamed Huerta as Chavez’s henchwoman. This is the rumor that was spread by farmers. So aside from the miscommunication that happened, there were a lot of old tapes being played in the form of racist misogynist sentiment. I have an idea that Sarandon just got dumped in the middle and its not useful to marginalize her.

I have to admit, I got a little thrill when I saw the headline that Mitt will endorse Rubio. I thought, “Oooooh! Trump is going to have a field day with that!” 😀

Wow. Bernie’s campaign is in debt now.

Politico: Sanders outspent Clinton in January.

Bernie Sanders didn’t only outraise Hillary Clinton in January. He outspent her too.
The Vermont senator’s campaign dropped $34.9 million last month, $15 million more than Clinton spent, but also $13.6 million more than his campaign brought in.

The revelation of his spending spree helps demystify Sanders’ surging candidacy, with close finishes in Iowa and Nevada and a crushing win in New Hampshire. And it means he had less than half as much cash left as Clinton right before the first votes were cast.
