This is NOT what a Feminist Looks Like (yet again)

I watched the last presidential presser this afternoon. The President wants to be seen as a fighter, yet once again, the President will not fight for the constitutional rights or health of our country’s women.
Here’s the sum up from USA Today.
President Obama said today that “as the father of two daughters,” he supports his Health secretary’s decision to block over-the-counter sales of the Plan B “morning after” birth control pill to girls under 17 years of age.
“I did not get involved in the process,” Obama said during a White House news conference, though he added he supports the decision by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
Sebelius, overruling the Food and Drug Administration, said there are too many questions about the safety of Plan B for girls who can bear children as young as 10 or 11 years old.
“I think it is important for us to make sure that we apply some common sense to various rules when it comes to over-the-counter medicine,” Obama said during an impromptu news conference at the White House.
He said Sebelius decided 10- and 11-year-olds should not be able to buy the drug “alongside bubble gum or batteries” because it could have an adverse effect if not used properly. He said “most parents” probably feel the same way.
Put another way:
From Empty Wheel: Obama: “As the Father of 2 Daughters” I Want the Government to Ignore Science
Barack Obama, who was educated in the country’s most esteemed universities, has implied that having daughters has convinced him the government should ignore science.
From FDL: Obama’s Deeply Paternalistic Statement on Plan B Decision
This is a pure expression of male paternalism regarding women being able to make their own reproductive decisions. … Who needs lengthy scientific review, when apparently father knows best?
I have only one more question. Have any of you ever seen any kind of drug stored next to batteries or bubble gum? When is the last time this man visited a pharmacy?

I’ve said it before. It doesn’t need saying again. But …
WHAT A JERK.
ayup
unemphatic pathetic man — who is still unfit to be Prez.
and a half. 🙄
obama is such a pr**k – the only time he takes a stand is when it’s against women. He’s so sure that women are going to vote for him anyway (‘Hey babe, where else’r you gonna go?”), that he has no problem spitting in our faces.
If this hasn’t convinced “feminists” that obama hates women, I just don’t know what its going to take. If you can’t hold your nose and vote GOP or Green Party or Libertarian (anything but obama), then PLEASE just stay away from the polls!
0bama hates women — period!
He ran the most sexist campaign ever.
And he continues to find new ways to let us know he hates us. There is a list somewhere of his ongoing sexist behavior — has to be a list.
I would question how many girls the age of 10 or 11 are getting pregnant and looking for a morning after pill. Could it happen? Sure I guess. But the drug is really about the 14-17 year old bracket, babies having babies.
And no, abstinence does not work. Sorry, but Mother Nature has our hormones raging at an early age. There are many factors involved here but we know that young girls who get pregnant at such a young age frequently doom themselves and their child to a life of poverty.
It’s a pay me now or pay me later sort of deal. If we want abortions reduced then contraception and/or these morning after drugs are a given [despite what the loons say].
However . . . the bubblegum and batteries statement? Is a lot like Poppy Bush who didn’t know what a bar code was.
POTUS needs to get out more–in the world where the rest of us live!
Color me a skeptic but I don’t believe Obama was Mr. Silent and Uninvolved on this issue. He really is in the wrong Party.
Pelosi avoids criticism of Obama, Sebelius on morning-after pill
Wonder if she would complain about decisions made against Botox? The woman is useless when it counts.
Yeah. I first noticed that way back in the day when she was on the “Ethics” Committee and refused to follow up on criminal malfeasance, forget merely unethical. (Don’t remember what it was. Just remember being shocked. Maybe it was even Newtie’s earlier shenanigans?) I seem to remember that she was all “Let’s move on” about it.

excellent!!!
An outstanding piece.
My one quibble is that she’s so damn polite. Hello? The jerk is sacrificing girls to the gods of his re-election. This is far from the first time. He can get the benefit of the doubt once or twice. But by now we’re well into pattern of practice territory. Don’t pretend he’s just made some sort of mistake and needs to explain himself. Call the pattern out for what it is!
And remember in November. As Eugene Debs said, it is better to vote for what you want and not get it, than to vote for what you don’t want and get it.
And here is another case of Buyer’s Remorse:

Next thing we’ll see from Obama is a call have condoms put behind the counter…just like in the good old days.
And the K-Y stuff? Whoah, there. Don’t want to be giving the little angels any bad ideas, so behind the counter with that as well.
Out of sight, out of mind.
And, speaking of that, how about a return to the “Modess…because” type ads for feminine hygiene?
LOL!
