Late Night: Waiting For Irene
Posted: August 26, 2011 Filed under: just because 9 CommentsWhat are you doing to prepare for Hurricane Irene? Those of you in the path of the storm are probably rushing around trying to buy flashlights, bottled water, and other emergency items. The rest of us can get in the mood with movies. Here are my picks:

my generation gap is showing
I remember that one.
This is my youngest daughter’s generation gap showing …
I’ve been trying to figure out whether I have to go to work today and the process is annoying and contradictory. I work on a barrier island which is under mandatory evacuation orders. I am scheduled to be there at 11 AM, but the eastbound bridge doesn’t close completely until 12 Noon. Access to it is limited until then, so I don’t know if I would be allowed over it or not. The westbound bridge to get home again will be open throughout. The conflict is that I read online that everyone has to be off the island by 12 Noon anyway, so going in to work at 11 AM would not make much sense, but when I called my workplace they said the police told them everyone would have to be off the island by 4 PM, so I could theoretically work my entire 11-3 shift. I am exhausted and aching after a shift and I still have hurricane preparations to do so I would rather not go in today at all.
You can’t go if the island is under evacuation orders. Don’t you have a telephone number you can call. I recommend staying home!
