The Last of the Mohicans
Posted: August 15, 2011 Filed under: Hillary Clinton, Hillary Clinton: Her Campaign for All of Us | Tags: Ed Rendell, Hillary Clinton: A Campaign for All of Us 14 CommentsOkay, so I just couldn’t resist Ed Rendell’s speculation on the possibility of a Hillary Clinton run for the Presidency. He’s bullish on 2016.
“I think, and this is just my thinking, that if she leaves after the president’s first term is over and she leaves and she teaches, does something like that, and rests, I think the possibility of being president and being the first woman president in history would probably be too much for her to resist,” Rendell told POLITICO.
“Her life is public service, that’s all she cares about, and I dont think she’s ready to retire,” he added.
Rendell was quoted in Monday’s New York PostOne as saying, “It’s going to be Hillary Clinton in 2016.”
Rendell told POLITICO that what he meant was that Clinton would decide whether to make another run for the White House only after she leaves the State Department. That means she wouldn’t run until at least 2016 because Clinton has said she will stay in office until President Barack Obama’s first term is over.
Clinton has said in many recent interviews that she is looking forward to returning to private life when Obama’s first term is complete and that Secretary of State will be her last public job.
Rendell said there is a core group of 2008 Hillary Clinton supporters — they call themselves “The Last of the Mohicans” — who continue to urge her to run for president again.
Anyway, it’s a fun read and much more inspiring than any of the crap coming out of the 2012 race. We can dream, can’t we?

I want her to primary that smug SOB. At this rate, I’m not entirely sure they’ll even be an election in 2016.
She will be close to 70 yrs of age come 2016. Not sure if this is a great idea.
As much as I admire Hillary I’m just not sure that age would not be a huge factor considering the grueling effects of campaigning.
Just my own two cents.
Ronald Reagan was 69 when he took office. I think Hillary would be 69 also. Reagan was the oldest president ever. I don’t think Hillary has Alzheimers’ though.
Heh. Yes. And I think the pace of work she has maintained these last coupla years has been beyond what Obama has logged.
It’s a great dream but sadly I’m afraid that’s all it is. I wouldn’t blame Hillary Clinton if she left her role as SOS and turned around and gave the entire DC establishment the finger. Talk about completely misreading 2008 and their ‘once in a lifetime, nearly a god candidate Obama’, the Dem leadership should be horse whipped.
Instead, the rest of the country is being whipped for their gargantuan mistake. Who knows if Hillary will have the fire in the belly in 2016. I’m guessing if a grand baby comes along, she may just keep working on her women and girl initiatives and enjoy being a Grammy.
She’s certainly deserves it. That being said, if she were to run? I’d support her in a heartbeat.
I agree it’s highly unlikely. Of course I’d support her though. I just wish she’d run in 2012. You have to believe a lot of the big donors that are disappointed in Obama would switch in a minute.
Wish she would run too in 2012…but I know it won’t happen. It sure is nice to think about.
I too want her to run in 2012. I want a choice, dammit! I can’t vote for Obama, and I can’t vote for the Republican smuck, whoever that’ll be. So give me a real choice! Hillary or Bust!
I don’t know what her long range goals will be, but short range, I see her achieving many goals related to women, here at home, and in some ,around the globe.
I can certainly relate to her connecting on daily basis with her family.
I’ll support Hillary no matter what she decides to do. She’s earned the right to that.
I respected Ed Rendell a lot more before he decided to lobby for a terrorist organization in its quest to be removed from the list of terrorist organizations. Btw, he wasn’t the only well-known Democrat to participate in this blatant sale of their influence.
Hillary should push the date up to 2012. I am convinced Obama will lose his bid for reelection and this means the next president will by all accounts be TX Gov. Rick “I’m a Prophet” Perry or Mitt Willard Romney.
If Hillary decided to challenge Obama for the nomination, I think she would prevail.
The American people are desperate for leadership, and Hillary has been tested by the ghouls in the GOP. She won’t back down and give Boehner and McConnell 98% of what they want.
From your keyboard to Hillary’s ears.
She won’t back down and give Boehner and McConnell 98% of what they want.
Sadly that’s exactly why the 2008 nomination, and therefore the WH was stolen from Hillary by the elite of both parties working as one. Why we want her , is why they blocked her…and stil do.
