Does Michelle Bachmann Have the Guts to Debate a High School Girl?

I'm looney tunes!!

High School sophomore Amy Myers of Cherry Valley, NJ has challenged Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) to a debate.

Myers says Bachmann’s frequent errors, misstatements and distortions aren’t just bad for civic discourse — they’re bad for women.

“Though politically expedient, incorrect comments cast a shadow on your person and by unfortunate proxy, both your supporters and detractors alike often generalize this shadow to women as a whole,” Myers writes.

Here’s Myers’ letter to the notorious Representative from Minnesota:

Dear Representative Bachmann,

My name is Amy Myers. I am a Cherry Hill, New Jersey sophomore attending Cherry Hill High School East. As a typical high school student, I have found quite a few of your statements regarding The Constitution of the United States, the quality of public school education and general U.S. civics matters to be factually incorrect, inaccurately applied or grossly distorted. The frequency and scope of these comments prompted me to write this letter.

Though I am not in your home district, or even your home state, you are a United States Representative of some prominence who is subject to national media coverage. News outlets and websites across this country profile your causes and viewpoints on a regular basis. As one of a handful of women in Congress, you hold a distinct privilege and responsibility to better represent your gender nationally. The statements you make help to serve an injustice to not only the position of Congresswoman, but women everywhere. Though politically expedient, incorrect comments cast a shadow on your person and by unfortunate proxy, both your supporters and detractors alike often generalize this shadow to women as a whole.

Rep. Bachmann, the frequent inability you have shown to accurately and factually present even the most basic information about the United States led me to submit the follow challenge, pitting my public education against your advanced legal education:

I, Amy Myers, do hereby challenge Representative Michele Bachmann to a Public Forum Debate and/or Fact Test on The Constitution of the United States, United States History and United States Civics.

Hopefully, we will be able to meet for such an event, as it would prove to be enlightening.

Sincerely yours,
Amy Myers

“Yeah,” he told Matthews when asked if he would have voted against the act in Congress. “But I wouldn’t vote against getting rid of the Jim Crow laws.”

Besides, Paul says that the Jim Crow laws would have ended without the Civil Rights Act anyway, a view held by many libertarians who believe the free markets solve social problems.

Was Paul homeschooled? These people seem so sheltered and ignorant of the way social interactions actually work, it’s like they live in test tubes or libertarian communes or something.

He’s a complete fraud. I guess freedom is only for men and businesses, not regular citizens.

      • Seriously's avatar Seriously says:

Let’s just say the free market is being disrupted by, oh, I don’t know, fear and intimidation. I think we call that terrorism. How’s that going to straighten itself out?

      • madamab's avatar madamab says:

Apparently freedom is only for WHITE MEN, BB.

I LOVE Amy Myers! I want to be like her when I grow up.

      • bostonboomer's avatar bostonboomer says:

You’re right, white men only. No women of any kind though.

At least we know the government’s good for something in his eyes, though.

I suppose it’s too much to hope that Amy Myers has a brother who thinks that As one of a vast 84% ultra supermajority in Congress he holds a distinct privilege and responsibility to better represent his gender nationally, the statements he makes help to serve an injustice to not only the position of Congressman but men everywhere, and wants to challenge him to a debate.

So Bachmann is this election cycle’s Palin?
That is, the person that makes Dems look like Dems in constast ?….certainly saves them from the seeminly boring business of having to act like Dems They should send her thank you cards. lol!

    • bostonboomer's avatar bostonboomer says:

As I pointed out on the other thread, Bachmann is much more powerful politically than Palin. As much as we laugh at her lies and historical illiteracy, she has been in Congress for nearly 3 terms and is on the Permanent Selct Intelligence Committee, which oversees the CIA, NSA, and all other Intelligence activities. She has been a very successful fundraiser and is popular in MN and around the country among fundies and other such nutcases.

        She’s another distraction.

The fundie lovegod, Huckabee, is making his announcement today. She could have the wind knocked out of her very shortly.

According to his schedule, Huckabee will appear six times over the next two days on the FOX networks, including spots on tonight’s “The O’Reilly Factor” and “Fox and Friends” early tomorrow morning. Huckabee also will host his self-titled news hour Saturday and Sunday evening.

I would hope that as an elected official whose salary comes from the taxpaers, she would have more important things to do. But it seems that most of our politicians spend too much time running their mouths and not working to craft solutions to our problems.

everything at that level is run on a fraud basis now…this is the result of the Bushalcation of the US.

That is: everyone operates like the Bush family = fraud = pretending to govern or run a business while in fact, running it to ground and stealing. The upper crust have become spawns of Neal Bush.
