ACORN New Orleans Pictures

This is the 1000 block of Elysian Fields. The Acorn building is next to the two pink buildings at the very end. It’s address is 1024 EF.
Here is the ACORN Building–it’s empty now because they’ve moved to a new location on Canal Street.

Dakini,
1) Is the address on the now vacated Acorn building (the grey one with the white pillars) 1024 Elysian Ave?
2) Do you know the date of when Acorn moved to Canal Street?
3) You should contact F03 with this information so the posting can be updated with your photo of 1024 and the new location on Canal (when taken).
Thanks for your work.
There’s nothing fishy about the other addresses, whoever wrote the NQ article just typed the address in Google Maps and took the picture that came up. They ignored the copyright Google has when they did that. Then Larry came in and “verified” the picture was the right address by looking at *other* buildings *elsewhere* in the world that he “knew by sight.” Crack investigative journalism.
Yes, the vacant Acorn Building is 1024. They have put up a sign on the front indicating the new address. The owner of 1000 Elysian Fields told me they moved out about 6 weeks ago but I did not verify this with ACORN.
I have sent this information to NQ so they can post the new picture. I didn’t want the picture to be a distraction to the article.
I just drove there about an hour ago, took the pictures and spoke to the owner of 1000 Elysian Fields.
Is there anyone who can get a picture of the Canal St. location, and verify that it is still/actually the ACORN office?
Yes, I can go snap a picture if necessary. I can also find out when they moved to that location if necessary.
Thanks dakinikat 🙂
This is great, Dakinikat. I am surprised that the sign on that bottom shot show ACORN and the union local in there together. I knew about the earlier flap, but this suggests a fairly large connection.
Dakinikat, this is great work. I think it is important to show the 1024 building because that is the location where Acorn and all of the other entities have been registered. Then it is important to find out exactly when Acorn moved to the new location, and if all of the other entities moved as well. I could be wrong, but my suspicion is that they were feeling some heat and that is why they felt to physically move from some of the other entities, like CSI.
Thanks again. I know NQ and the author will really appreciate your help.
There were several signs posted on the French doors about where things were moving. I’m not sure that they ALL re-located to the Canal address. I suppose now that I read your concerns, Proper Vetting, I should go back and see if some of the entities listed in the article moved to different locations. Let me eat lunch and I’ll go snoop around the front door and then the new location. I need to charge up the batteries on my digital camera too.
