Yeah, that image above is perfect. That about puts my family’s emotional state on display, “Fuck it all Man.” My mom’s cancer is back and if you remember, surgery was not an option because of her blood issues and problems with anti-bodies…and chemotherapy was difficult because she could not tolerate the medicine cocktail that was used. Next week she begins a new chemo treatment, with a different drug concoction. We will see if she can handle these medications. But they are supposed to cause sores on the bottoms of her feet and palms of her hands. It is all very upsetting. Fuck it all…man.
Hopefully I can find some funny cartoons today…let’s see what we got?
I thought you would find these interesting…comics from the other side, cough…cough. Uh, I get it that there is that 30ish% of people who will never turn against their “dear leader” but at what point do these media and editorial news outlets/artist realize that the propaganda they spin is beyond any sane person’s belief.
This is an open thread…
Do you think some people consciously start the day saying something like that to themselves?
It’s going to get weird…I’m going to make this weird.
I think tRump surrounds himself with people who have that sentence as their mantra…
I would say that tRump also makes this his chosen path to follow, but I am not sure it is a conscious decision anymore. I really believe the Orange Caligula is fucking nuts. He seems to be in a constant sunset stage now…and that is frightening.
First off today:
The interview, Jake Tapper and Stephen Miller:
NN host Jake Tapper abruptly ended an interview with White House staffer Stephen Miller after the Trump aide began shouting about a new tell-all book that casts the White House in a bad light.
During an interview that aired on Sunday, Tapper accused Miller of filibustering instead of answering questions that have been raised by Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside Trump’s White House.
Tapper noted that President Trump had recently called himself a “stable genius” in response to Wolff’s book, which alleges that the president is not fit to serve.
“It happens to be a true statement,” Miller shot back.
“I’m sure he’s watching and he’s happy you said that,” a frustrated Tapper said.
“That was a snide remark,” Miller complained.
“I have no idea why you are attacking me,” Tapper remarked.
As the CNN host tried to ask questions about the book, Miller yelled that CNN attacks Trump “24/7”.
“You have 24 hours of negative anti-Trump hysterical coverage on this network!” Miller shouted. “Viewers are entitled to have three minutes of the truth! Why don’t you just give me three minutes to tell you about the Donald Trump that I know.”
“Because it’s my show and I don’t want to do that,” Tapper jabbed. “Stephen, settle down, calm down.”
But Tapper’s attempts to calm Miller failed, and he was eventually forced to end the interview.
“Okay, you’re not answering the questions,” Tapper said. “I get it. There’s one viewer that you care about right now and you’re being obsequious because you’re trying to please him. I’ve wasted enough of my viewers time.”
Of course the audience of one was thrilled with Miller’s performance:
Certain folks on the Twitter were making the connection, that yes…this twit (meaning tRump) was proving Tapper right:
But, I tend to agree with the blogger No More Mister Nice Blog: THE ONE THING JAKE TAPPER GOT ABSOLUTELY WRONG IN THAT STEPHEN MILLER INTERVIEW
Everything about Trumpism is focused on rallying the base. No one else matters; the rest of us aren’t even considered Americans. Conservatism has been like that for years now, but Trumpism is focused on an even narrower demographic — it’s fine if even mainstream Republicans are alienated, as long as the base cheers.
This seems like a way to commit political suicide. But the Americans who are going to pump their fists watching Miller “own the lib media” might constitute a third of the country. And when you add the people who believe that, yes, it would be better if Trump’s aides (and Trump himself) had better manners but who nevertheless think that Tapper is the villain in this clip — why does he have to express so much contempt for the president of the United States, who deserves some respect? — you start approaching 50% of the country, and a clear majority of white voters. Throw in vote suppression, gerrymandering, and lots of plutocrat cash and you have a formula for repeated electoral victories, which is why the GOP mainstream is exceedingly tolerant of this approach.
Virginia and Alabama suggest that this strategy has its limits. Nevertheless, even in Virginia the Democrats won the overall House of Delegates vote 55%-45, but couldn’t do better than 49 of 100 seats, and would have won no more than 50 if the Democrat’s name had been picked out of that bowl.
Miller did this for the same reason a baseball manager runs onto the field to get in an umpire’s face in response to a disputable call. The purpose is not to impress the team owner — it’s to fire up the crowd and the ballclub. Trust me, this will work.
Remember, this is tRump’s base:
It’s officially become a tactic among some conservatives: if you can’t beat them, then threaten them. Fearful of the blue wave headed their way in 2018, a small group of right-wing nut jobs have taken to death threats and literal assault to help their Republican candidates win.
Last year, the Democratic challenger to Republican Steve King of Iowa, Kim Weaver, was forced to drop out do to death threats to her and her family. King, a known white supremacist, stated he thought the threats were fake. In Binghampton, NY, the Democratic mayoral candidate dropped out after he was threatened and then assaulted by a conservative supporter while with his child.
Alabama authorities say arson is being investigated in a fire that destroyed the home of Tina Johnson, a woman who accused former US Senate candidate Roy Moore of grabbing her on the buttocks in 1991.
However, from the CNN link above…the sheriff is insisting that the arson is not connected with Johnson’s statements regarding Roy Moore and sexual assault:
No arrests have been made, and there appears to be no connection to the allegations against Moore, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
“The ongoing investigation does not lead us to believe that the fire is in any way related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him,” the release said.
Let me make a little observation, about “rural” sheriff’s offices…in a county next to my little town of Banjoville, there was a former sheriff who was found dead, shot to death by a shotgun bullet to the back of the head…it was ruled a suicide. So, go figure.
Okay, I am in no way…making any comment about the veracity of local law enforcement.
In other news:
And, as I stated before…
This is all I can manage today, hopefully you all can find something pleasant to post about.
This is an open thread.
Which way do you go? That is one tough decision…
At any rate, things are getting bad over in the Northeastern United States. I mean, when sharks are becoming “sharkcicles,” it is time to take these cold mutthafukken temperatures for serious.
It’s so cold, sharks are washing up on beaches
In Massachusetts, the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy found three thresher sharks washed up in Cape Cod, “stranded due to cold shock,” which can cause cardiac arrest in animals.
The conservancy collected tissue samples from the sharks that will be examined “once they thaw.”
“We hauled the shark off the beach and it is currently thawing at NOAA Fisheries Service to be dissected later,” the group wrote on Facebookabout the latest shark discovery. “A true sharkcicle!”
Other cold weather related news bits at that Quartz link above.
Actually, all should pay attention, the next cold blast is something frightening:
This thing is expected to have a barometer as low as Hurricane Sandy, and bring cold air from…Siberia, Greenland and the North Pole down into the East Coast.
Unforgiving cold has punished the eastern third of the United States for the past 10 days. But the most severe winter weather yet will assault the area late this week.
First, a monster storm will hammer the East Coast from north Florida to Maine with ice and snow. By Thursday, the exploding storm will, in many ways, resemble a winter hurricane, battering easternmost New England with potentially damaging winds in addition to blinding snow. Blizzards warnings have been issued for the Virginia Tidewater and eastern Massachusetts and Maine, and could be extended to other portions along the eastern seaboard, presently under winter storm warnings.
“This rapidly intensifying East Coast storm will produce strong, damaging winds – possibly resulting in downed trees, power outages and coastal flooding,” the National Weather Service tweeted Wednesday morning.
Forecasters are expecting the storm to become a so-called “bomb cyclone” because its pressure is predicted to fall so fast, an indicator of explosive strengthening. The storm could rank as the most intense over the waters east of New England in decades at this time of year.
National Weather Service hurricane hunter aircraft are even flying into the storm to gather data and refine the forecast given the possible severe impacts in coastal areas.

Yesterday, I went on Facebook, and this was the “notification” that greeted me:
Isn’t it fucking depressing?
The whole thing is filled with a comical disparity.
Meanwhile tRump is going off on Twitter…
I bet you…like something YUGE is going to be coming out in the next few days. If the Orange Caligula is threatening nuclear war while referencing the size of his dick…it has got to be some pretty bad news.
Geez. I can’t take this shit.
On to a bit more bad news…Peggy Cummins passed away in the last week of December. She was one of those actresses that was too good for Hollywood. Her role in Gun Crazy is one of the best performances, ever.
The actress died of a stroke, her friend, Dee Kirkwood told the Associated Press.
Cummins started her career in theater when she was 13 years old, taking the stage in London and quickly landing roles in British films, including “Old Mother Riley Detective” and “English Without Tears.” Darryl F. Zanuck, who was then-head of 20th Century Fox, brought her to the U.S. in 1945, where she starred in “Moss Rose” and “Escape.”
Her big break came with the thriller “Gun Crazy,” where she played Annie Laurie Starr, a sharpshooter in a traveling carnival who seduces Barton Tare (played by John Dall) to marry her and join her in a life of crime. The film was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry in 1998 because of its significance. “Gun Crazy” went on to inspire “Bonnie and Clyde” and the French new wave.

With that, here are your cartoons:
That should get the party started…
One more thing, about resolutions…
I have decided to become more vocal and advocate for ending child marriage. Every year I donate money each month to Planned Parenthood and ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Association, but this year I am going to put that into something that has grabbed my attention.
I think we all are aware of the impact of child marriage throughout the world. Over the holiday I saw a repeat of a report by CBS news called The Lost Girls.
Nepal has one of the highest rates of child marriage in the world. Correspondent Reena Ninan travels to a rural Nepali village to follow one woman in her controversial fight to end child marriage.
Please watch the video, it is only twenty minutes…
During Ninan’s stay, Rachana stopped a wedding by calling the police. And overnight, her mother’s worst fear came true — an angry mob confronted Rachana at her home. But she didn’t let the incident prevent her from losing sight of her main goal.
“If a girl hears my story, and how I started my journey, at least I’m giving hope to them,” she added. “There are some people who don’t like the work I am doing. If I die for this reason, I know my sisters will be inspired and they will carry on.”
“If I lose hope, if I give up, nobody will dare to take this issue ahead,” she continued. “I’m happy to put my life at risk.”
Shortly after filming, Rachana stopped another three weddings. Her work has spurred a movement to end child marriage in her home district of Surkhet by 2020, ahead of the government’s 2030 target to wipe out the practice nationally.
She recently started an NGO called Sambad, which means “dialogue” in Nepalese, to help boys and girls alike discover their self-worth. She’s been fighting to empower the youth to focus on the importance of education. But in this conservative society, change isn’t easy. For some, this is the only education they will ever receive. For others, it’s the only place they’ll ever feel loved.

Her activism was going door-to-door in her village, trying to convince families that any appeal child marriage may have in the short run was no match for its long-term harm. She also would stop weddings by calling the police, sometimes even on wedding day. By thwarting weddings and changing minds, she has stopped over 50 weddings and increased awareness of the pernicious effects of child marriage among Nepalis, including by educating over a thousand children on avoiding child marriage.
She started a NGO called Sambad, which translates to “dialogue,” with the support of the Stromme Foundation and Kirdarc Nepal. There, she worked as a social mobilizer discussing various issues with the wider community. Although the original Sambad program ended after a year, Sunar and others who worked at Sambad continued the program, which works to empower children and transform society.
Sunar also runs a Saturday school-children’s center facility for 59 children called Baalbagaicha Gayankunj. When she hears the innocent laughter of the children at the facility, she feels more compelled than ever to help provide them with peace and love, and to educate them into better people. She hopes to open a school for needy children and girls at high risk of being married too early, giving them free education up to high school and providing counselling on the harm of child marriage.
“[S]chool will empower [the children] to. . .be independent,” Sunar says. She absolutely believes that “empowered girls. . .will [become the] future leader[s] of the nation.”
When the Prime Minister of Nepal visited an area close to her home village, she presented him with a framed letter on the topic of ending child marriage and asked him to support her and the other activists working on the issue, which he agreed to. In the video of that encounter (part of the CBSN documentary), she was visibly excited at not just having met the prime minister but also getting an important endorsement for the issue closest to her heart.
…she is full of hope and optimism about the positive effects her work will have in the long-term. Her aim is to eradicate child marriage in Nepal by 2030. For her, the strength to keep going in her activism stems from seeing girls start getting more equal opportunities.
“When more than 100 girls in my community called me a big sister and when they thanked me for my guidelines[, I] feel proud of being their big [sister] who always takes care of [the] younger sisters,” she asserts.
Rachana is truly an inspiration, I would love to get in touch with her and find out if there was any way to assist her in her efforts. I guess the connection with Sky Dancing and Dakini and Nepal so near to Tibet…it just seems like a good outreach for me to follow. At any rate, that is my thought process going forward.
