Wednesday Late Thread

Sorry for the lateness…I forgot it was Wednesday!

Some of you may not know but I have been bingeing (is that spelled correctly…) RuPaul’s Drag Race since Christmas. I can’t believe it either! So far I’ve seen all 14 seasons of the regular, 7 seasons of Allstars, and 1 season of UK…with some untucked sprinkled here and there…has it gotten a bit overkill, of course…but that is what makes it so fucking fantastic.

So aside from adding the word, Bitch, to everything I say…and that is with the accent on the biach…I have come to appreciate how much the show does for the young people out there who aren’t in a community that is open to “accommodate” or accept LGBTQ people and culture.

Anyway, I just wanted to make that point, and if any of you have not seen the show…it is hilarious. I suggest Season 7 of AllStars…the competition was fierce.

Ok, enough of that shit. On with the post.

This is appalling! 3 warnings on the day of the shooting and school officials ignored them all.

Officials at a Virginia school were warned on three separate occasions by teachers that a 6-year-old boy had a gun or had made threats, but failed to take action on the day he shot his first-grade teacher in class, an attorney for the teacher said Wednesday.

Toscano (attorney for teacher) said Zwerner told a Richneck school administrator that the 6-year-old had threatened to beat up another child around 11:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 6. Toscano said the school did not call security and did not remove the student from the classroom.

Around 12:30 p.m., another teacher — after apparently receiving a warning the boy had a gun — searched his backpack and flagged school administrators, Toscano said. “The teacher then tells the administrator that she believes the boy put the gun in his pocket before going outside for recess,” Toscano said, alleging, “The administrator downplayed the report from the teacher and the possibility of a gun, saying ‘Well, he has little pockets.’”

A third teacher told administrators about a crying and fearful student who “bravely confessed” to his teacher that the boy showed him the gun at recess and threatened to shoot him if he told anyone. Toscano said administrators again failed to take any action or notify authorities.

A fourth employee, who heard about the gun, asked an administrator for permission to search the boy less than an hour before the shooting and was denied, Toscano said. That employee was told to “wait the situation out because the school day was almost over,” the lawyer alleged.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m.

OMG! That is awful! Those poor teachers. And the kid who was threatened. That’s a lot of traumatized people. The administrators. should fired.

Who’d want to be a teacher these days?

Update to that article says that the school superintendent was asked to step down, which he did, but he gets “two years of his current salary, plus benefits.”

The surge in debt was largely due to the $3.7 trillion in pandemic relief offered to Americans, Snopes reported.

Although it’s questionable if all the relief went to those who needed the help. There’ve been more than a few reports of companies getting the $$$ under fraudulent means.

        What about Trump’s tax cuts?!

        • NW Luna says:

The article didn’t give a specific figure for that, only that it was significant:

Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 significantly added to the level of national debt.

How do other presidents compare? During President Barack Obama’s eight years in office, his administration was responsible for 29% of the national debt, per Treasury data.

In Joe Biden’s time as president thus far, his administration is responsible for 11% of the debt.

Although comparatively, it may seem like Trump’s administration was responsible for a larger portion of the national debt, it is important to take in the impact of the pandemic when viewing these statistics. According to The Balance, the national debt level has historically increased by large amounts during times of uncertainty in the country and the economy.

For example, Franklin D. Roosevelt is responsible for the largest increase in the national debt in presidential history, increasing the debt level from $22.5 billion to $236 billion. This was largely because of the national devastation of the Great Depression, World War II and the New Deal, The Balance reported.

Funny. I haven’t seen these high egg prices yet. Maybe it’s because New England produces lots of brown eggs?

    • NW Luna says:

In Seattle it’s anything from $3.70/dozen on up, depending on brand and organic not organic status. Brown or white is determined by the breed of chicken. Perhaps the breeds which produce brown eggs are less susceptible to the avian flu?

Drag = womanface. Lots of LGB people, especially the L, don’t care for displays of hypersexualized, dumb behavior that satirizes and insults women. As for drag queen story hours, why do men with hypersexualized clothing and behavior want to be so close to children? (never mind why they’re allowed to be)

Let’s have chef story hours, nurse story hours, scientist story hours, farmer story hours instead.
