It has been a hell of a weekend. We found out that my daughter’s cat, Beef, has possible Feline Infectious Peritonitis…FIP. He has ascites and the vet drained his abdomen on Friday. It looks like she will be loosing her pet…he has been incredibly helpful to her this past year, it is difficult to see her going through this hardship. Keeping in mind that we are thankful he never has been in contact with any of the other animals.

So let’s get this thread going…

      Democrats don’t get to accuse Republicans of putting forward these bills to stir up their base as long as said Democrats are doing the SAME DAMN THING by calling this “genital inspections” to get their own base riled up. 999 times out of 1000 no medical check would even be necessary. Everyone involved KNOWS it’s a boy trying to play on the girl’s team. Hell, kids playing sports in schools have to have a physical every year. It’s not like the doctor would miss the presence of a penis.

        Purely from a technical perspective, leaving aside every last thing about the implications for girls, boys, everybody, why don’t these people do a simple chromosome test? Or even a complicated chromosome test, one that includes placement of the SRY gene, if present, and the whole nine yards? Has the whole science of karyotyping passed them by completely?

        Or is everybody, as you say, desperate to inflame outrage by visions of child sex abuse? That’s what fiddling with a kid’s genitals for no good reason _is_.

          And it’s not like parents don’t have to show a child’s birth certificate for them to enroll in school. Which should have the accurate sex for 99% of children.

          For those few with DSDs, those children and their families need to know that for reasons that go well beyond participation in sports.

          For the trans identified boys…they need to play on the team for their biological sex. I’m less concerned about girls being forced to show their genitals to their family doctor than I am with them being forced to see a boy’s penis in their locker room. And I find it hypocritical in spades that the same people who want to force girls to see those penises are up in arms over “genital inspections”.
