Wednesday Reads: Reading Rainbow

That is a perfect editorial cartoon…

I have to ignore TFG because if I pay attention, I will go crazy. So here’s something to keep you updated:

Meanwhile…

Coming up this week on TCM:

If you have never seen this film: Cry, the Beloved Country…please make a point of watching it.

In fact, there are several films coming up, as TCM celebrates Sidney Poitier. So check it out.

That does it for me this Wednesday, take care…this is an open thread.

WTH? I cannot understand why anyone would want to do this, let alone why they’d think it was OK.

It’s a Montessori school. I’d think, in some 1950s version of white reality, it was imagined as a way of teaching empathy. Imagine you’re a black person kind of thing. It’s kind of amazing that a teacher could miss all the intervening decades (and even in the 1950s, not all whites were clueless!) I’m just guessing obviously, haven’t read any of the articles, so I could easily be wrong about guessing that, in a sad sort of way, the intentions may have been good. (I know. Road. Hell. etc.)

These texts are astounding. Even the Fox News crowd were scared of what happened on 1/6.

    Texting through an insurrection

Thousands of frantic text messages that might have otherwise been lost to history are now key to piecing together a picture of the events surrounding the Jan. 6 attack.

The panicked texts started landing in Mark Meadows’s phone long before thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory.

Even Donald Trump Jr., who had been backstage with his father just hours earlier at the rally, sent Meadows a flurry of alarmed messages.
“He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough. We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It’s gone too far and gotten out of hand.”

Love the Bugs cartoon. I can understand reserving some info for a book, but actual crimes…?
