So interesting about Viking trade with the Middle East going back to 775 CE (AD). And the description of the use of solar particle events (Miyake events, named for the woman Japanese scientist who discovered them) to increase the precision of radiocarbon dating is fascinating!
I knew the Vikings traded with the Middle East, and to Constantinople via the Baltic sea and rivers, but didn’t know the dates for this had been pushed back to so much earlier.
Sky Dancers, I’ll be going offline on New Year’s and not returning. I wanted to tell you rather than just disappear. Some of you know I have been receiving palliative care for the last several months.
I wish you all a very healthy and safe 2022. We have been together for so many years! Where does the time go? I will miss you. Take care and keep fighting the good fight.
