Somehow I can’t muster appreciation or liking for a man in lipstick wearing dresses who makes jokes about rape and women’s bodies. Wonder why? Could it be that I don’t care for womanface, wherein men (or brainwashed women) wear stereotyped clothes and makeup and act like dumb sexpot women? Kinda like how I don’t care for blackface, wherein White men or women insult Blacks by wearing stereotyped clothes and dark makeup and act like dumb lazy Blacks. Hmmm.

In a world where too many people still think femininity=female, you cannot mock femininity without mocking actual women. Plus why mock femininity? If it’s really about taking the piss out of gender, why mock the people on the bottom. Make fun of masculinity/men. Mocking women does nothing to change or challenge the current system. Hell, making fun of women IS the current system.
Making fun of oppressed people for the behaviors that are forced on them or that they developed to cope/live/deal with that oppression isn’t funny…it’s a shitty thing to do.
Yeah. The writers on this here blog understand drag in a way that I don’t, so I wasn’t going to say anything. But now that you both have put it so clearly, I want to second you. I just scroll past all that stereotyping as fast as I can. I get way too much of it in the rest of the world.
