Happy Sunday… enjoy the day.
Cartoons from Cagle:
A man tried to carry a gun aboard a plane. Detected, he lunged for the weapon and (apparently unintentionally) fired it. Three people were hurt. Injuries non-lethal, but who wants to suffer a bullet wound because some dumbass can't be separated from his security blanket? 1/x https://t.co/Ssr94x9R23

How do you feel?
375 trans people murdered in 2021 yet people still argue & say that transphobia doesn't exist.

On this #TransDayOfRemembrance I hold close to my heart all the brave trans people who died as a result of hate. We will continue to fight for our equality. Rest in power angels. 💙

The Sky Dancing banner headline uses a snippet from a work by artist Tashi Mannox called 'Rainbow Study'. The work is described as a" study of typical Tibetan rainbow clouds, that feature in Thanka painting, temple decoration and silk brocades". dakinikat was immediately drawn to the image when trying to find stylized Tibetan Clouds to represent Sky Dancing. It is probably because Tashi's practice is similar to her own. His updated take on the clouds that fill the collection of traditional thankas is quite special.
You can find his work at his website by clicking on his logo below. He is also a calligraphy artist that uses important vajrayana syllables. We encourage you to visit his on line studio.

“RESIST, INSIST, PERSIST, ENLIST.” - HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON
Wow, those are some great cartoons!!! Kenosha police that let that kid walk around with an illegal weapon should be turned upside down and emptied of everything.
Austria and Germany are showing signs of common sense. Financial markets can’t really get back to normal without control of the pandemic.
Yeah. That stuff makes me shout, “What about the economic impact of plague and disease and death? Huh? Huh?”
On St Claude like 3 blocks up from me.
When it hurts so bad an ouch is not enough … we lost a lot of culture bearers this week. Too many authentic second lines were required.
This Second Line is for Trombone Shorty’s mom … he’s dancing on her casket to send her to a joyful place!
Even one murder is one too many, but there’s not an epidemic of trans murders:
Researched and written by a trans person.
There’s that. I mean, I know they’re saying it’s a hate crime, so it’s different, and if it was, it would be. But the ones who make special mention like that never show they’ve even looked for that data. It’s just trans-murder=hate crime.
The last time I saw a complete study (couple of years ago? US or UK study), a large majority of trans murders were people in prostitution. Prostitutes suffer horrific murder numbers. On that background, the proportion of trans murders was minute. And only in a couple of cases was there evidence the murderer was aware they were trans. Most of the time it looked like murder aimed at prostitutes. Women.
Which is the other thing that grates about making special mention of transwomen. If the poster is exercised about gender-based hate crime, there’s a few orders of magnitude bigger pile of dead women over here. Mostly killed for having the nerve to live while female. So, hate crimes. Where’s the intersectionality? Why not even mention that while you’re on the subject?
When I’ve seen breakdowns, the majority of murders are in prostitution in South American countries. That’s an area that has a notoriously high rate of murder. It’s not so much that many trans people engage in prostitution but rather that prostitution is dangerously risky for the prostituted. That’s true in the US and not just countries in South America. If sex work was work, OSHA would shut it down because it’s so unsafe.
The U.K. has had 0 (zero, zilch, nada) murders of trans people in the last 3 years, while an average of 3 women are killed there every week.
Yup. Exactly right. The high numbers are mostly skewed by Brazil. Important, but relevant to Brazil and how bad prostitution murders can get when there are functionally no protections at all.
Looove the concept of glazing the turkey with LSD 😆
