Mother’s Day Day Reads

Happy Mother’s Day!

Enjoy some cartoons from Cagle.com:

Personally, I don’t think much of Liz Cheney…but the cartoonist seemed to be focused on her for some reason.

Latest on that space trash:

And let me say, I fully agree with this last tweet here..totally:

All you mothers enjoy your day!

    And for those unmothers:

Awesome essay. My maternal grandmother had 11 children, my mother the youngest girl. She basically was raised by the older children which left her alone much of the time. I assume my grandmother was overwhelmed. I have so many pets I can’t always keep track.

Anyway, childless by choice here and no regrets. Thanks for the post JJ!

Happy mopther’s day to all who have children too!

I often wondered why the media is so slavish to the Dump. The WaPo letter is just one we know about now. Imagine getting something like that and being a young reporter starting out in the business. Might affect your coverage a tad.

I wonder if we’ll hear about more of these intimidation tactics now that this has come out.

Except Rep Cori Bush didn’t say “mothers.” She said “birthing people.” The only people who give birth are mothers. Women.

Rep. Bush, don’t reduce mothers to merely one function of the years-long experience that is motherhood.

Happy Mothers’ Day to all mothers!

I am horrified by how many politicians are unthinkingly parroting the weird, laborious, and exclusionary vocabulary.

(Yes, there’s been research. There’s always research. Gender neutral terms are read as male unless extra conscious effort is added. They de facto exclude women.)

But if that’s all it was, you’d just do the female thing of rolling your eyes and waiting for it to blow over. Which it will, since not reality-based.

That’s not all it is though. The Rethugs show every sign of angling to make this another hot button election issue. And given how unthinkingly pwned the Dems are, they’ll succeed. /*scream*/

If only the Dems could wrap their heads around *rights*. Trans people must have the same civil rights as everyone else. Trans people, like every other group that needs protection, do not get to take away anybody else’s rights. Women get to hang on to what little safety they have, they don’t have to compete outside their physical class (same as any other athletic group), they don’t have to open the door to predatory men pretending to be trans. Etc etc etc etc etc. This is not difficult.

Instead they’re throwing women under the bus and cloaking misogyny as being “progressive,” and handing Rethugs some kind of counterfeit “Defenders of Women” crap on a silver platter. So so so so stupid.

      • NW Luna says:

Trans people already have the same human rights as everyone else. It’s not a human right for male-bodied people with penises to be in the same room with girls and women who are undressing to change clothes, relieve themselves, or shower. Or to take away medals and scholarships from female athletes.
