Good morning.

Hope everyone is well, I’m not feeling that good, so it is a short thread today.

Be safe…

Hope you feel better soon JJ, and kitteh is doing OK. Mine are all in the back yard sitting in the sun. It’s like Spring here! I’m even airing out the house. Taking small blessings where I can.

Just put my Georgia senate ballot in the mailbox to go out tomorrow. I’ll be grateful when I don’t have to watch any more commercials for this thing.

The WaPo whines that Biden’s picks aren’t “diverse enough” and that he hasn’t talked to Bernie about his choices.

Biden’s Obama-era Cabinet picks frustrate liberals, civil rights leaders

For instance, the transition never reached out to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) about Biden’s decision to tap Neera Tanden as director of the Office of Management and Budget, according to a person familiar with the lack of communication, despite Sanders’s role as the top Democrat on one of the committees that will hold Tanden’s confirmation hearings.

“There’s more appointments of color, but there is a lot of same old, same old,” said Sayu Bhojwani, a pro-immigration activist and president of New American Leaders, a group that pushes for more diversity among elected leaders. “Having voices of color who have kind of grown up in a system that wasn’t built for people of color means that we’re not going to get innovation and we’re going to get people who are risk averse because they know the system.”

The Bhojwani quote reads suspiciously like calling Biden’s POC choices Uncle Toms. Also, if Bhojwani thinks there’s a system built for people of color already, where is it?

“Not diverse enough” has echoes of the same shit women are always hearing. “Not tall enough” “Too tall” “Not smiling enough” “Smiling too much” “Not professional” “Too professional” etc etc etc

Who decides what is diverse? Who decides what’s diverse “enough”?

They just want to nitpick. Somebody said it: Bernie is pissed Biden isn’t *okaying* the appointments with him, forget mere consultation.

Another old geezer who simply needs to shut up and GO AWAY.

I may change my name to the name my students call me. Dr Kat.

Well of course, a man writing in the WSJ that a woman shouldn’t use her hard-earned doctoral title.

The premise that only medical doctors should get to hold the Dr. title is etymologically specious because, as Merriam-Webster dictionary pointed out on Twitter, “doctor” comes from the Latin word for “teacher”; it was scholars and theologians who, back in the 14th century, used the title well before medical practitioners.

As supporting evidence for his reasoning, Epstein cites his own refusal to be called “Dr.” when he taught courses at Northwestern University — which would, in fact, have been fraudulent and comical because Epstein’s highest degree is a bachelor’s. It seems he would like Jill Biden to deny herself what she earned, because he denied himself what he did not.
