Sunday Reads: Voting Observations

“I secured my vote.” What a ridiculous thing to put on a voting sticker in Georgia…where secure and vote are two words that just don’t go well together.

And let me say, there is a new type of voter intimidation. The no mask wearing kind. Out of the say ten to fifteen people at my early voting site in Habersham County…only one was wearing a mask. ( And you can bet your ass I went to them.) I’m not trusting my vote to some tRumper who is obviously making a point by refusing to wear a mask during a pandemic! The message was loud and clear.

It is so fucking disgusting. #MaskUpAndVote

We are so excited to finally be able to share an incredible project that we’ve been keeping under wraps: official Joe Biden tote bags by the one and only Rick Fleming, available now in the Team Joe Store! As some of you may know, Rick is a longtime and vocal supporter of Vice President Biden and his presidential campaign. He was thrilled back in August to do a commissioned tote bag of Biden. We posted a picture of Rick and his tote, and through a series of serendipitous internet happenings it got the attention of the Biden campaign, who reached out to arrange a call between the VP and Rick. On Saturday October 10th Rick had the opportunity to talk to Vice President Biden via Zoom. While all of us were incredibly nervous, Rick was cool as a cucumber. Rick and the VP chatted about Rick's art, the VP's dogs, and the importance of wearing a mask. Rick got a chance to tell the VP how he has personally donated a portion of his art commissions to the campaign. Then, to top it all off, Vice President Biden asked Rick if his campaign could reproduce and sell Rick’s Biden tote bags through their official campaign web store. Needless to say, we are so incredibly proud of Rick and thrilled to share his work with a campaign that advocates for marginalized voices. Link in bio to purchase the official Biden tote! And don’t forget to VOTE!! . . . #rickflemingart #joebiden #biden2020 #bidenharris2020 #teamjoe

Thanks for the updates, I especially liked the one about the hornets because I wondered how they would deal with them and I am so tired of thinking about this election.

    • dakinikat says:

      Yeah that was amazing!

    • NW Luna says:

The nest was finally found just a few days ago, and I read they were going to destroy it Saturday. I hope that it was the only nest. If the hornets are free to multiply it’s good-bye to honeybee pollination and most of the fruits and vegetables we like.

      • quixote says:

The entomologists say it’s like there are a few more nests, all in that region. Plus, with this nifty radio transmitter method to track the little monsters to their lairs, the exterminators will likely get them all before the queens can reproduce. So there’s hope.

        • NW Luna says:

Not surprised there’d be a few more nests around. However the Ag field scientists caught at least 4 hornets at different times and tried to attach transmitters. Only 1 stayed on the hornet all the way back to its nest. They tried glue and dental floss ties. Apparently the hornets chewed through the dental floss.

I’m sure the BC folks are doing their best too with finding and exterminating these vicious insects.

Can we hopefully say it is almost over? The Trump Circus that came to town unexpectedly is finally drawing in on “closing night”? Can we say with any conviction that the end is really near?

I certainly hope so but I won’t sleep until the finale is assured on November 3rd. This guy and his “insane posse” are too corrupt and thirsty for power to accept the outcome if it does not go their way.

Only a complete outpouring of the voting public can bring this travesty to a halt. Only then can the message be sent loud and clear that enough is enough of this lawlessness and criminality that illustrates the Trump administration so we must all do our part and GOTV!

He needs to go! He and those who have enabled him for 4 years need to be sent packing with an edict of never to be heard from again!

If not we can expect even worse than what we have already experienced.

America,do your duty. Restore us to some form of “normal” before we all fall off the cliff forever.

    VOTE HIM OUT!!!

I’ve almost completely lost sympathy for all the young people out there partying like it’s 2019, and completely lost it for all the anti-mask maggats who get this thing. They’re a burden on the front-line health care workers and now the rest of us have to worry about getting in for treatment for regular reasons.

My maggat brother’s wife was hospitalized Thursday and diagnosed with MS. Luckily the hospital was not crowded. Her case may not be severe, and I am thankful for that but if she needs treatment at the peak of this next outbreak and can’t get in…..I’m going to have trouble sympathizing. Her saving grace is she’s Australian and doesn’t vote although they are both maggats.

I love the mind-body problem cartoon!
