Watching a Tamil name get mocked today reminded me of countless situations where I have felt like I was not welcome, and like my identity was a nuisance. But going through the tweets where people share the meaning behind their names is making me tear up and giving me so much pride!!!!! Soooo #mynameis Divya and it is derived from the Sanskrit word that stands for Divine Brilliance. The d is pronounced like the th sound in “this” not like the d sound in “divine”. If you’ve been mispronouncing my name for the last seven years, I don’t want an apology, just change the way you say my name. And remember!!!!     The thing that the Amy Coney Barrett story illustrates to me is that more than the insane callousness and insensitivity of one woman for another, it shows how conservative judges are there to protect companies. They trade on Christianity to get votes but their purpose is to make sure that whatever happens the company is never liable.

    Dump golf resort approved in Aberdeen Scotland, right next to the other one. A third one in Turnberry never has been profitable; that’s the one the military keeps using to prop up profits. Commentators speculate they’re all money-laundering operations, which sounds about right to me.
