I’ve known Senator @KamalaHarris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing. pic.twitter.com/duJhFhWp6g

“Harris didn't use Trump's donation. Rather, in 2015 — a year after she had already been reelected and was working toward a Senate run — she gave the $6,000 to a nonprofit that works to secure civil rights for Central Americans.”https://t.co/dbWQiSApI7

This is an open thread.
Happy Wednesday JJ. At least the news has some good bits – and really good ones! I heard on teevee Auntie Kamala will have Karine Jean-Pierre for campaign manager? I think that’s what I heard but can’t find any stories. She’s bad-ass!!!
Why “Auntie” Kamala? I don’t get it.
Someone else referred to her as Auntie – I’m sure it’s because Biden is Uncle Joe.
In India, the “aunties” as well as black culture are a group of “mature” women that help out the kids in the family. I have some grown adults down here that call me “Auntie Kathy” It’s kind’ve like recognizing you’re some one they look to for stuff. I saw it in the Indian culture when my daughter got married. All the Aunties were basically there to help do whatever.
“In Asian communities, ‘auntie’ is a term of endearment and trust,” Wong said. “An auntie is someone who helps you feel loved and cared for.”

I would assume this is mostly from her mother’s Indian roots. Although it is a southern black thing too. Although Oprah and Gail don’t like it and say it’s too much like aunt Jemima Days ..
Remember we call Auntie Maxine?
Here’s some on that:

Exactly. It’s a term of endearment for Boss Woman Who Takes Care Of Things.
Like “Commander in Chief” but with a much wider range of competence. (Yes, now I’m trying to be funny.)
They used to call her a “faunt” or fun aunt on SNL.
It was from her niece Meena Harris
