Wednesday Reads: Yes, Master
Posted: February 12, 2020 | Author: JJ Lopez aka Minkoff Minx | Filed under: just because, morning reads |21 CommentsThis week, the Justice Department…lead by Barr and tRump, swooped in…and shit all over what was left of any semblance we had of those three branches of government.
Extortion, blackmail, threats, and now railroaded court sentences…roadblock investigations, outright obstruction and interference.
I don’t know what we can do about this, since the Republicans handed tRump a kingly dictatorial crown of free reign, with that disgusting display of a “trial”.
It doesn’t look good.

Do not underestimate the danger of this situation: the political appointees in the DOJ are involving themselves in an inappropriate way in cases involving political allies of the President. This affects the rule of law and respect for it. Unprecedented. https://t.co/LvydcZUaSe

Jonathan Kravis, Aaron Zelinsky, Adam Jed and Michael Marando — Department of Justice heroes. I support them and all of the men and women of goodwill at DOJ. Be tough. Do not compromise your values; there can be no compromise with those who act corruptly.

Today:
-4 prosecutors resigned because of pressure in Roger Stone sentencing
-Senate GOP blocked 3 bills to boost election security & prevent foreign election interference
-Senate GOP confirmed judge with horrible record on voting rights
This is how democracy dies

What is being described here is systematic abuse by an Attorney General wielding DOJ to hurt the president's enemies and help his friends. Barr must resign. https://t.co/sY0UpAtbiw

I have really tried to have, and encourage others to have, faith in the resiliency of our institutions. But today I just feel so much sadness — grief, really — over what is happening. There is a cancer in the White House, and it has spread to the Justice Department.

The headline says Barr, but what this really means is that Trump has taken over these cases, and in fact, the entire Justice Department. https://t.co/MQXgyku8gZ

The DC US Attorney’s office, which is now being run by a clear political hack taking orders from the president, is also overseeing the Flynn case, the McCabe investigation, and the new leak probe into Comey. There is surely more to come.

Outrage erupts after ‘mob boss’ Trump implicates #Barr in #RogerStone scheme
Trump has now publicly admitted that his attorney general intervened in the case of his own longtime adviser — who obstructed an investigation #MOG

These developments in the Roger Stone case are seen as a substantively *huge* deal in legal circles — a challenge to the rule of law…

Between the three DOJ prosecutors resigning over the Roger Stone debacle, and the announcement that McCusker is losing her job for her attempts at preventing the Pentagon from breaking the law is insane. It's a #TuesdayNightMassacre #ImpeachBarrNowhttps://t.co/GPiFOytg85

REMINDER
– Roger Stone was Trump's longest serving political adviser
– Roger Stone ran the operation to Russian-backed Wikileaks to get them to steal documents to help get him elected
– Trump's manager, deputy manager, top lawyer, & national security adviser are also criminals https://t.co/t4CyylvVY5

7:34 Keene New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders points the finger to the tribune where we journalists are and makes people boo the press (which would accuse him of being an extremist). ‘Boo’ says the crowd, turning toward us. For a second I ask myself where I am. #NewHampshirePrimary https://t.co/wYjpPWUxVa

The word “trumpery” appeared in the 15th century with the meanings “deceit” or “fraud”. 100 years later, it was being applied to objects of little or no value. Then in the 1900’s, it came to mean “showy but worthless”.
Our universe has a damn morbid sense of humor.
— Andrea Junker (@Strandjunker) February 10, 2020
On that note, this is an open thread.
Don’t know about a morbid sense of humor. I think the right word is cutting. Or vicious. Vicious works too.
A few cartoons for humor
That last one is genius.
Another day with Trump occupying the Oval Office, another major constitutional crisis … WTF is wrong with the Republican party ? Oh, wait, theyre greedy, ideological and don’t care about any one but themseves!
The media doesn’t help matters:
Yes that says, even the scales.
“even the scales” WTF? We’re talking about extortion by the President* and his firing of a patriotic American who did his job, and told the truth. You can’t even the scales — all the power is on the side of the corrupt.
The most horrible part of it is Lt Col. Vindman telling his father not to worry; he didn’t fear retaliation because he was in America.
Vindman’s statement has always hauntingly reminded me of Anne Frank’s statement that she still believed people are really good at heart. Two innocent heroes, they are.
It’s how we’re wandering into Take Two knowing exactly what path we’re on with Take One still in living memory — sometimes I feel like I can’t even scream I’m so horrified. Like those nightmares where you can’t do a thing.
Sleep paralysis nightmare, but this is happening as we’re wide awake.
Deval Patrick, Senator Bennet, and Andrew Yang have all dropped out …
Yes, thanks… I forgot to mention this…
Send checks to her opponent!!!
The “swamp creatures” surrounding Trump are bringing us to such low levels ever experienced by this nation.
What is more disheartening is that polls show almost 50% approve. I don’t know who is included in this poll but it is more than alarming that there exists a number that high that see nothing wrong in what is happening.
Welcome back to the 1930s when laws were rewritten in Germany that paved the way for the Holocaust.
Is this the trajectory that we are aiming for? What is wrong with these people who support this insanity?
House Dems continue to do good work.

Yea!
It boggles my mind that passage isn’t a given. And yet, ask almost anyone, and they’ll tell you women’s rights is so 1970.
It’s all so appalling.
