And the new season is upon us…I’m not talking GoT…
Obama ‘new blood’ remark has different meaning for Biden | TheHill
Former President Obama’s talk about how politics need “new blood” is being seen as a blow to Joe Biden, the former vice president that Obama did not back to succeed him in 2016.
[…]
…Obama and Biden as friends…
[…]
…recent remarks like the one Obama made this week in Hawaii represent a sort of threat to Biden, who has told allies in recent days that he’s likely to enter the 2020 presidential race.
Obama was speaking broadly about the need for new blood in politics, not specifically the need for new blood in the Democratic Party.
But coming on the heels of Obama’s meeting with former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (Texas), a rising Democratic star who most political observers see as competing with Biden for a slice of the primary electorate, it also sent a signal to the wider political world.
The remark and the burgeoning flirtation between Obama’s political network and O’Rourke also stings Biden given the 2016 campaign, when Obama backed Hillary Clinton and nudged the vice president away from the race, insiders say.
Blah, blah, blah. Then there is this actual quoted dialogue about how much Obama loves “Joe” …seriously:
“The president loves this guy, loves Joe, thinks the world of him. He would go in a battle ditch with Joe but that’s different than giving his brand to him,” one ally of Obama’s said in describing the political dynamic and the former president’s actions.
“He has an incredible soft spot for him. And I’m sure he’ll do everything he can to make Joe feel good, but he won’t come out and make Joe his candidate,” the ally said. “And I think that hurts Joe.”
Poor Joe Biden. I don’t know why I started this post off with this little nugget from the Hill. Perhaps, it was the way they are already framing Biden in this coming blood sport of the Democratic Presidential Primaries. If you read the rest of the article, it once again brings up Hillary…and how she stole Joe’s chance back in 2016, by gaining Obama’s support. Considering the fucking horrible display the press has given Warren and Harris, the mysoginistic treatment we saw of Hillary back in 2008 and 2016 will be nothing compared to what the women candidates will face this time around.
This, for me at least, makes the case for an even for bolder Dem ticket in 2020:
An all women ticket.
Yes, I am for a full kitty administration. Fuck all these dickheads who have gotten us where we are today!
This is an open thread.
Well, I know it is another short thread..I still am sick and today I have a massive migraine. But I wanted to post something that I have been thinking about lately. Hope everyone is doing ok, I am going back to bed.
My dream ticket:
🐯Harris/Klobuchar🐯2020
Ed says presidents aren’t run on tickets. So what ever the best term for ballot?
Although… the USA.gov site has this as the definition of a ticket
But y’all know what I meant.
Agree — with several good candidates it would save time, energy and money if they’d pair off ahead of time.
My favorite — I know it’s a dream — would be Clinton/Harris.
Fuck Joe Biden.
Just saw that his brother said the family voted for Trump.
I haven’t liked him since his dreadful comments at the Clarence Thomas confirmation. I have always believed that you should never forget and never forgive except in very special cases. Some people can change but really the vast majority do not. Biden is/was an entitled prick.
Yeah, That did it for me too. Plus, he’s grabby … he was grabby as vice president even
I hate his guts. I will never forgive him for what he did to Anita Hill.
Neither will I.
I never got over the plagiarism.
Sorry, Ron, but plagiarism on a background of confirming a sexual harasser as Supreme Court Justice is like saying the really bad thing he did was double parking.
(I mean, yes, of course, plagiarism is worse than double parking. But destroying women’s lives and ability to just be in public is a whole different class of crime than stealing words. And I say that as an author….)
The plagiarism happened before the Clarence Thomas thing, didn’t it? It was 1987 and the Thomas hearings were 1991. So I think Ron is saying he already thought Biden was a loser before the Hill fiasco. I did too.
Oh, yes, that makes sense. The timing had all telescoped into one pile of “What-an-Ass!”
Thanks for reminding me.
I should have said, I first became suspicious with the plagiarism and I have never been dissuaded from it.
I’ve always thought Joe was a misogynist now I think Frank is as well. They are admitting to voting for burning down the country and basically the planet because of their hatred for a strong woman. We all knew absolutely that Trump was a climate change denier and likely a Russian agent to boot. Voting for Trump is akin to handing Nero the bow as Rome burned.
Exactly. Anyone could see how horrible Trump was, and SCOTUS was at stake.
Frank probably didn’t have a problem with Clarence Thomas then.
(Who’s Frank? I need footnotes.)
This thread …..
And impeached for emoluments and conflicts of interest.
Good one! “Subject: Favorite recipes.”
Oooh. Good work, Dems.
Why do they need to put him on notice? Witness tampering is not a crime until you specifically tell the tamperer it is? I don’t get it.
Congress can’t prosecute him though. They’re letting him know that Mueller could.
Oh, I see. I guess they’re also reminding the media and the people.
I keep wondering why a flood of articles are only now coming out in the MSM about Trump as authoritarian, Russian puppet, etc., It was there all along, and reported in enough places that it was no secret. IF you were paying attention, which is exactly what journalists are supposed to do.
exactly … and that’s because they were fixated on making out Hillary to be some uppity witch
That book came out a year ago so it’s not really new. I guess the paperback just came out or something.
I remember that … but thought it the interview might be interesting. I missed all TV this weekend because I’m nervous enough without all the crap that’s going on.
It was interesting.
Oh the poor menz.
How ‘traditional masculinity’ hurts the men who believe in it most
Aaaand the Patriarchy is trying, badly, to hide its laughter in its sleeve: That article is in the “Style” section.
Ticket is the correct term.
Don’t have any favorites yet. Need to learn more about who is running. My favorite will not be Biden, or anyone else over age seventy. We start losing it at about that age. Starts slipping away a little more each day. That applies all over.
I voted for Biden in the primaries once. Not sure what year. Think it was 2008.
I never make up my mind until I see the first debate. For some reason, I like to see that.
Hillary crushed Biden in 2008. You must be in a state with an early primary.
I am. Georgia. It us in Super Tuesday together with a bunch of other states who want to try to have a big influence.
O.M.G.
Some one took it down. It was amazingly racist. Against Eliabeth Warren and just filled with horrid Native American slurs.
Good!
