Sorry, I am very sick. I can barely muster this.

  2. joanelle says:

Excellent question, jj. Why is he still here? He has to go. He has no respect for any of the citizens of our country. He stole the presidency, doesn’t know how presidents are to support their population or even act with care and compassion for any of us.

    • OG says:

The election was fair and legal. He won the electoral college because people voted for him. That is our system. Popular vote does not count.

      • quixote says:

Fergawdsake, OG. Try to keep up. Cambridge Analytica, Facebook, Russians, Wikileaks, NY FBI, Comey, etc., etc., etc. And with all that he “won” by some 77,000 votes in six (?) oddly pivotal counties in three oddly pivotal states.

That election was so obviously stolen even the MSM is starting to see it.

(Okay. Sorry for being rude. But, honestly! I don’t expect to see that kind of obliviousness to the obvious on this site.)

        • OG says:

I think this site sometimes could use a little fresh air and a different viewpoint. I stay civil and in my lane. You should make the same attempt. I am not rude on here and don’t expect others to be rude to me. And you are wrong about the dlsction. I don’t understand how you and people like you could have such warped viewpoints. And I mean that in the most civil way possible.

          • NW Luna says:

The election appears legal (though there are many questions about accuracy of vote count especially with the mathematically improbable results as quixote mentions above, and many voting systems cannot be audited).

Fair it was not — there is nothing fair about the Electoral College. Comey’s intervention was grossly unfair to HRC as he implied wrongdoing on her part when in actuality there was none yet Trump was in actuality under investigation for improper ties with a hostile foreign state. Voter suppression is not fair. Reduced numbers of polling places in majority-POC areas are not fair.

This site welcomes any viewpoint that has a reasonable amount of supporting evidence. I believe that one’s viewpoint should be arrived at after considering the evidence. I use “viewpoint” in this case to refer to one’s conclusions rather than to one’s preferences.

          • OG says:

Let me rephrase that, then. The election was as fair as any presidential election has ever been. I agree that the electoral college system is unfair, but those are the rules we play by. And playing by the rules is fair. The election was fair in the it was conducted under the rules.

As for as unsupported viewpoints, there is absolutely no support for the view that Trump stole the election. Trump had no control over Comley or over any things that third parties were doing without his knowledge.

Sorry if I have offended anyone on this site but done statements are so wrong that they should not be ignored. Saying Trump stole the election is one of those statements.

Hope everyone has a good week.

          • quixote says:

“Fresh air,” hmm? It’s a gaseous phase, I’ll grant you that. But it doesn’t come from a fresh place.

Luna expands on some of the points. There are reams written on this subject. If you want to start with some readable, thoroughly researched writing on the subversion of elections, try Carole Cadwalladr at The Guardian. (e.g. here. Another earlier one, detailing some of the same tricks in the UK as have also been found in the US: h ttps://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/07/the-great-british-brexit-robbery-hijacked-democracy) (remove space in “https” and copy and paste url. done to avoid going into moderation for two links.)

          • NW Luna says:

“Trump had no control over Comley or over any things that third parties were doing without his knowledge.”

It appears highly likely that he and/or his team coordinated with the Russians. Fairness requires that both sides have similar treatment, which was not the case, regardless of whether Trump had control or not over the influencing factors.

          • OG says:

            Have a good week.

          • Sweet Sue says:

“Warped viewpoints” is civil?? Shove that fresh air up your ass.

          • OG says:

            You don’t like ironic sarcarasm?

        • NW Luna says:

          Have a good week, all!

      • joanelle says:

I understand that, but how really democratic is that?

        • OG says:

Not very. The electrol college is a major flaw which needs to be changed. So does the Senate. It us less democratic than the college.
This standoff/shutfosn really shows the defects in our system.
James Madison et al really messed up.

      • bostonboomer says:

Um . . . the election was not “fair,” and the legal part is being investigated.

        • OG says:

The special counsels report will be coming out eventually. It seems to be taking forever. Congress may go ahead with impeachment when the report comes out depending on what it says. Don’t think they should do anything until then.

          • Fannie says:

I think they should impeach the lying mother fucker!

          • bostonboomer says:

Mueller has been issuing his report in his court filings. There is plenty of evidence against Trump already on the public record. But Congress doesn’t have to wait for the report. They will do their own investigations. I don’t think they should impeach until there is more public demand for it, but I believe it will happen this year.

          • OG says:

I agree, it will probably happen this year. Public opinion I think would give impeachment more support if the Mueller’s report has been released and shiqs criminal activity . But that is just my opinion.

  3. OG says:

He is still here because his polls are still on the low forties approval ratings overall, and he has a ninety two per cent approval rating with republicans.

My wife just got over coughing coughing coughing and feeling awfully bad. Took her a week and she had antibiotics which she claimed helped . Seems to be going around.

Hope you feel better. Sunny and warm here in Tucker. I am usually freezing on January 6. Don’t understand this weather.

    • NW Luna says:

Republicans in Congress are willing to allow the US to be the laughingstock of the world, to be called a democracy in danger by the UN, and be the pawn of Russia.

Hope your wife feels better soon.

  4. RonStill4Hills says:

People that are comparing Rep Rashida Tlaib to Donald Trump are TOTALLY missing the point. And not accidentally either.

Context and intent inform language and that includes profanity.

When Donald Trump says shithole countries it isn’t the offensive word shit that makes it unacceptable. That is merely “impolite.” The problem is the dismissive characterization of black countries As inherently inferior to other countries that goes beyond mere rudeness and crosses into racist fighting words territory.

When Trump says, “Grab then by the pussy”, it isn’t the word pussy that is problematic, it is the casual assertion the sexual assault is a “right” due to so-called “stars.” Does anyone think it gets better if he says, “Grab them by the vulva?” It is the “grab” that has him endorsing criminal sexist behavior.

When Trump called NFL players exercising their free speech rights and taking a knee to protest police violence, “sons-of-bitches” who gave a shit about he word bitch? It was the “shut up and score touchdowns” behind the words that requires challenge.

As far as I am concerned the only thing wrong with what Rep Tlaib said was that she did not say, “impeach the STUPID motherfucker and PUT HIS TREASONOUS ASS IN JAIL.”
