Mid term Vote: Live Blog as we and the West Flip!

It’s been a bit of and up and down night.

There are some flips and as we move west. The flips are getting more frequent and many are surprising.  Some of my Republican family in the Kansas City suburbs must be acting like the Rockefeller Republicans we’ve always been.

She’s a native American woman and an out lesbian and a now, a Congresswoman!  Congrats Congresswoman Sharice Davids representing my family there!

Not only that went right in Kansas but Kris Kobach just went down and Laura Kelly will now be Governor of Kansas.  I guess they learned how fucked up things can get after Sam Browback pulled a Jindal on the state. It’s better when you make policy that actually works.

Mitt Romney will be going to the US Senate so no knitting needles for that failed presidential candidate. Nevada, North Dakota, and Montana are all too close too call Senate races

Let’s look and Westward ho!!!

So, it’s 10 pm eastern and the flips are coming fast and furious!

It’s looking much better!!!

California could be really great and you can keep up with it here at CNN if you want!

and Omigawsh Staten Island just flipped from Republican to Dem. The only Republican congressman from NYC is now out!!!

If control of the House comes down to these hours, it’s time to make more coffee.
Polls will close on competitive House races in IowaNevada and Washingtonstate in this two-hour span — all states where Democrats believe it is likely they will pick up seats — but the biggest prize of these late-night hours comes from California, where at least nine House races up and down the state are worth watching.
An important note: If Democratic control of the House comes down to California, the country is in for a long ordeal. California is notoriously slow at counting votes, meaning races could be decided in days and weeks, not hours.

Only really sad news so far is we’ve lost Heidi Heitkamp.

Make some coffee and hang out!

I am beyond disgusted. I really thought Rich Cordray had this. We have to get out from under the thumb of rural bigots and idiots.

I hate Mike DeWine. If Kasich challenges Trump successfully watch out. DeWine will almost certainly be his AG.

    Gillum conceded.

    • quixote says:

Oh hell. I’m trying to be good and be glad the Dems at least got the House, but Christ on a gerrymandered cracker, no Abrams? no Beto? no Gillum? They were (are!) the BEST in these races. And the people who vote-suppressed their way over the finish line are ghouls. Also I see Amy McGrath in wherever-it-is, Kentucky?, has conceded. I keep telling myself, keep calm and carry on.

Well, maybe, with a bit of luck and a good wind at their backs the Dems will actually DO something in the House? Here’s hoping.

  22. RonStill4Hills says:

Glad the House flipped. Now if they can follow through and not chicken out.

Sick and disgusting to see Abrams, Gillum and O’Rourke lost.

A huge slice of our country has gone mad.

    Thinking ahead:

  27. NW Luna says:

WA state initiative calling for tighter controls on firearms is passing, 60% to 40%.

Still tight, but Dem candidate Kim Schrier may flip Reichert’s old seat, the 8th Congressional District, in the House. 53% – 47% The 8th District straddles the east-west divide and has a lot of rural territory. Would be nice to see it go blue!

Since we vote by mail and ballots count as long as postmarked by tonight, it can take a while to get all results in.

    • NW Luna says:

Looks like my new state senator will be a male first-time politico who works at Microsoft. Yeah, he’s a Dem but I really wanted the woman, and she had had more experience. The man sounds like a Bernie progboy. At least we have Maria Cantwell in the Senate again.

      • Mary Brown says:

I’m sad that the three legislative seats I worked on don’t look good. (in the 26th). Looks like we’ll be sending back a couple of good old boy gun nut bigots.

  28. Minkoff Minx says:

I just got back from practice and I’ll tell you, it was a sad drive home. For Georgia and Florida…Gov wise.

  29. NW Luna says:

    Well isn’t this cheery.

  30. RonStill4Hills says:

I shed no tears for Claire McCaskill.

I feel she stabbed Hills in the back in 2008.

For the sake of checking Trump in particular and Repugs in general, I was hoping she’d win.

Now that that is over she can burn in hell.

I hear how ungrateful I sound. Ok. I own it. I am tired of moral victories and being a good loser. A moral victory usually means a loss, and a good loser is still a loser.

We lost ground in the Senate and Trump is crowing about how he won it for the Repugs. We were supposed to be sending a message. Not denigrating the 100 women in congress accomplishment, but this election sounds more like a whimper than a roar.

I am a little depressed this morning.
