Wednesday Reads: Weirdos and tRump-ups …Hump Day Cartoons

Twitter was all agog over some tweet that Mrs tRump supposedly liked, few people were only around to notice this little gem:

Now, the only way to appreciate that tweet is to read the replies.

Here’s a few other tweets to get this post started:

Well, at least President Swiss Cheese Brain has the comedians and political cartoonists on a roll! I’m waiting for a meeting and to hear about the Yates testimony.

Rep. Adam Schiff is certainly a stand out in today’s Dem party. Why can’t we backbench Bernie and promote some of these folks?

      • ANonOMouse says:

Schiff is a standout in the House IMHO. I think the other standouts today during the hearing were Senators Chris Murphy, Mazie Hirono and Al Franken.

        • dakinikat says:

Al Franken is an amazing intellect. You always knew he was bright but he really should’ve been a lawyer. He just nails these folks that testify. He corners them like terrier after a rat.

      • Enheduanna says:

I’m not able to watch the Comey testimony but just glancing at reports – are they saying Chaffetz leaked the information from the letter? Comey presented the letter to the oversight committee and Chaffetz leaked it?

And why is this not a violation of the Hatch Act?

      • bostonboomer says:

        Comey’s excuses were total bullshit.

      • NW Luna says:

Adam Schiff should be a role model for the other Dem senators!

  3. Minkoff Minx says:

    Found guilty for laughing

    • Enheduanna says:

JJ – that is unbelievable! They found the Code Pink lady guilty??

      unfkngbelievable.

    • ANonOMouse says:

People like Donald tRump are literally getting away with consorting with the enemy and a 61 year old woman is going to jail for laughing? Our goddamned Criminal Justice system is a fucking joke.

    • NW Luna says:

Crazy. Sounds straight out of 1984. How many of us will they jail before they run out of space?

      • dakinikat says:

That’s what all the for profit jails they’re readying get to do. Put the majority of us in jail. I’m waiting for the days of the poor houses again.

      • Fannie says:

I told them to come on and get me, cause I’m laughing my ass off at Sessions.

  4. bostonboomer says:

Ben Carson thinks it’s cruel to make public housing comfortable for tenants.

Carson: Compassion isn’t ‘a comfortable setting’ in public housing

    • dakinikat says:

What rock hatches these Republicans who hate poor people so much? How do these folk even think of themselves as followers of the new testament jesus?

      • Enheduanna says:

As if anyone actually wants to be in a homeless shelter..And they never think about just who is going to sit in judgement and choose the ones who deserve help and who do not. He makes “allowances” for disabled and mentally ill – but want’s to “incentivize” the rest to leave. Maybe they can put cattle prods in the budget.

        • bostonboomer says:

He’s not talking about homeless shelters. He’s talking about subsidized housing, like where I Iive. Luckily my place is subsidized by the state not feds.

      • Fannie says:

Especially when he himself benefited from the system.

    • NW Luna says:

WTF? Another heartless Rethug. Everything we do should be done with compassion. To treat people with dignity is simply the right thing to do.

Doesn’t he remember the “As you do unto the least of them, so you do under me (Jesus)” from his own allegedly sacred book? These people would deport Jesus if he came around today.

  5. dakinikat says:

Oy. Well, it’s not going any where in the Senate.

  6. I am very discouraged that these people continue to dismantle protections, continue to set us back horribly and the intelligence committees are moving slowly, being undermined…and Comey (the bastard) may, may, maybe will request a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump/Russian connection. When? After they destroy the country? This is truly revealing that there is no justice, a fact that African Americans have known all along.

  7. NW Luna says:

Just when you think they can’t get any worse, they do. I want to cry but I’m numb:

Before passage of the ACA in 2010, sexual assault survivors who had sought medical care for their injuries could be denied health insurance coverage at a later date. The reason? Health insurers often categorized rape as a pre-existing health condition.

…Perhaps more alarming, though, is the MacArthur-Meadows amendment’s provision allowing states to also seek waivers from the ACA’s requirement that essential health benefits be covered by health insurance plans. Essential health benefits include preventive health care services …. also include coverage for mental health care and substance abuse treatment.

Sexual violence survivors face acute treatment needs in the aftermath of an assault such as care for gynecological injuries, other physical trauma, sexually-transmitted diseases, and pregnancy. But sexual violence takes many forms: incest, ongoing sexual abuse outside of the family, sexual assault, sexual harassment or exploitation, and rape. Each of these types of assault puts the survivor at risk for various potential negative physical health and mental health outcomes. For example, an adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse is at a higher risk for psychiatric disorders. Women and men who have survived rape as adults are at higher risk of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse — any of which can significantly interfere with daily living. No one can deny that there is a direct line between having survived sexual violence, and an increased risk of physical and mental health problems.

    • quixote says:

I just had a brain wave. I’ve solved the whole problem of how to fund the Repub health plan and how to pass billions to megacorps. Are you ready?

The whole country is being abused and traumatised by the Repubs. Ergo, the entire country is under one gigantic pre-existing condition. No disease even remotely associated with stress can be covered.

But people still have to pay for insurance in case they get hit by a bus.

Am I a genius or what? I’m waiting for Paul Ryan to call.

  8. RonStill4Hills says:

Axelrod all but called Hills a sore loser on CNN. He also all but dismissed shenanigans by the Circus Peanut in Chief, the Russians, Comey, et al, as having anything to do with the outcome.

Let’s face it, the bastards from 2008 will continue to kick her till she’s dead.

Even if it means turning a blind eye to the worst case of election theft in the history of U.S. Presidential elections since, John Grizzly Adams stole the election of 1824 from Randy Jackson! And I got those facts from Trumpkin himself!
