Is The Muhammad Movie Even A Real Movie? – The Dish | By Andrew Sullivan – The Daily Beast

Rosie Gray created an (unembeddable) video highlighting the heavy dubbing the the trailer. She theorizes that the “anti-Muslim ‘movie’ that served as the spark or pretext for a wave of violent unrest Egypt and Libya may not be a movie at all”:

[N]early all of the names in the movie’s “trailer” are overdubbed. The video is a compilation of the most clumsily overdubbed moments from what is in reality an incoherent, haphazardly-edited set of scenes. Among the overdubbed words is “Mohammed,” suggesting that the footage was taken from a film about something else entirely. The footage also suggests multiple video sources — there are obvious and jarring discrepancies among actors and locations.

Paul Krugman: Why The Vileness Matters – NYTimes.com

I haven’t weighed in on Romney’s awesomely awful intervention on events in Egypt and Libya; with even Republicans joining in the chorus of shocked disapproval, not much I can add.

But maybe I can say something about why this matters for the campaign.

Go to link to read his thoughts on this…I think Romney made his lack of suitability for the job clear long ago, unfortunately I think even this shit is going to slide off him like all the other things we have pointed out during his campaign.

As Susie suggest: Libya | Suburban Guerrilla

Here we go:

CNN reports that the United States will send unmanned drones to Libya to look for jihadist camps, as the White House now accepts the belief that the Benghazi attack was the premeditated work of terrorists. U.S. officials say the attack was not a direct assassination attempt on Ambassador Christopher Stevens, but that used the otherwise peaceful protest of an anti-Muslim film as a diversion to infiltrate the area and then strike the compound.

Nic Robertson of CNN reports that the top suspects are the Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades, named after the infamous “Blind Sheikh”, who is currently in jail for orchestrating the original 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The group has claimed responsiblity for previous attacks in the Benghazi area and even attacked the same diplomatic offices back in June. On September 11, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri called for new attacks to avenge the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, who had been the No. 2 man in the Libyan Brigade.

I will end with this last cartoon…

  1. Here is the latest from Reuters: Smoke, confusion and a missing ambassador in Libya attack | Reuters

Security personnel were separated from the U.S. ambassador to Libya during the attack in which he was killed, U.S. officials said on Wednesday, describing a chaotic scene of smoke, gunfire and confusion as the American consulate in Benghazi came under assault.

The officials said the attack began at roughly 10 p.m. local time on Tuesday, with U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, information technology specialist Sean Smith and one security officer trapped under fire in the burning consulate building.

“They became separated from each other due to the heavy dark smoke while they were trying to evacuate the burning building,” one senior official said, who spoke on condition of anonymity and stressed that it was a preliminary version of events.

The security officer made it outside, and returned with help to search for the missing U.S. diplomatic personnel.

“At that time, they found Sean. He was already dead. And they pulled him from the building. They were unable, however, to locate Chris (Stevens), before they were driven from the building, due to the heavy fire and smoke and the continuing small arms fire,” the official said.

AP talked to another person involved in making the “film.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The search for those behind the provocative, anti-Muslim film implicated in violent protests in Egypt and Libya led Wednesday to a California Coptic Christian convicted of financial crimes who acknowledged his role in managing and providing logistics for the production.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, told The Associated Press in an interview outside Los Angeles that he was manager for the company that produced “Innocence of Muslims,” which mocked Muslims and the prophet Muhammad and may have caused inflamed mobs that attacked U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya.

    • From Joe Cannon: Cannonfire

Nakoula B. Nakoula is the spooked-up asshole who got our ambassador killed
“Sam Bacile,” the likely Mossad operative who produced the film that led to so much outrage, has been identified as an American citizen who was born as a Coptic Egyptian. His real name is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. The information we have on him is pretty telling:
Nakoula, who talked guardedly about his role, pleaded no contest in 2010 to federal bank fraud charges in California and was ordered to pay more than $790,000 in restitution. He was also sentenced to 21 months in federal prison and ordered not to use computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer.

The Youtube account, “Sam Bacile,” which was used to publish excerpts of the provocative movie in July, was posting comments online as recently as Tuesday.
Ah yes. How many times have we seen this pattern? First, a shady low-life gets into trouble with the law. Then the spooks find him, whisper in his ear, and promise to make the guy’s problems go away — as long as he plays along with some bizarre scheme. For quite a few years, I’ve called it the “Three R” trick — the three Rs being Terry Reed, Michael Riconosciuto and Gunther Russbacher.

Think about it. Who the hell is going to loan Nakoula — a guy guilty of freakin’ bank fraud — the sum of five million dollars? Even if the actual budget was $50,000, how would this jailbird scrape up the dough? He was sent to prison for 21 months in 2010; how did he secure an early release?

You can’t make a movie of any kind — even a student film — if you can’t communicate via the internet.

Great picts from your Atlantic Link.

On how to get conned- I noticed in one of the links that the apparent job lead for the “movie” was from Craigslist. As we know, Cragislist does not address job leads unless someone complains. I don’t think my daughter, who did some minor work, would have ever responded to a Craigslist ad for a real acting job. This is why there are protections like SAG.

So, in looking at the ad itself, the first thing i noticed was that that we were asking for SAG or non-SAG actors. The second thing I noticed was that there was no compensation. Since SAG is a union and those that belong have at least a minimum wage expectation, with other requirements, like breaks, etc. I’m guessing that not too many SAG actors applied independently. This person was looking for naifs.

I wonder if they actually signed contracts. With no compensation, maybe they can sue.

  6. roofingbird says:

So according to your link BB, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is not supposed to use the internet without his parole officers consent. How does he have a uTube profile, or produce a movie for the internet?

Josh Rogin: Inside the public relations disaster at the Cairo embassy

One staffer at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was responsible for the statement and tweets Tuesday that have become grist for the presidential campaign, and that staffer ignored explicit State Department instructions not to issue the statement, one U.S. official close to the issue told The Cable.

Two additional administration officials confirmed the details of this account when contacted late Wednesday by The Cable.

  12. Pat Johnson says:

What is wrong with the Republican Party?

For the past 12 years it has served up the likes of Paul Ryan, George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Alan West, Joe Walsh, Christine O’Donnell,Rick Santorum, Sharron Angle, Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Jan Brewer, a boatload of corrupt Republican governors, state legislators oozing with Pro Lifers who would shoot a woman on site for seeking an abortion, and Mitt Romney.

Bad enough we got stuck with W but they added to the “Dope Factor” by including Palin on the ticket then topped it off with a cadre of lunatics running for POTUS who were defeated by the likes of Mittens. Ron Paul almost appears normal by comparison if that is at all possible. But that theory works itself out when you throw in Rand Paul as another whacko and this is your GOP leadership at work.

They did not want Romney under any circumstances but they got him just the same. Now they are stuck figuring out how to extract him from the “pile of poo” he is standing in up to his chest and it must hurt. The comparison to Palin was the first shot heard earlier today and the ratings coming in thereafter would make any grown man cry. Ouch!

Don’t overlook the Sheldon Adelson connection here at play as well. With all the other conspiracies making the rounds so far it is best to consider he may well want some return for that 100 million “donation” to get his boy over the top.

By his boy I am referring more to Bibi than Mittens.

The GOP is basically a rump party now in that they’ve ran almost everybody out who had a lick of common sense. What they have left is a bunch of ignorant assholes! At this rate, maybe even some of the assholes will abandon ship someday.

Turns out it was Romney himself who decided to do that crazy attack bit and not some staffer. So the candidate himself is the fool in this case!
