Late Night Open Thread: Fat Cats and Money for Nothing

Hey, hope you are having a pleasant evening! I’ve got a few quick items for you tonight as I work on tomorrow morning’s post.

Fat Cats aren’t always on Wall Street, as this clip from Anderson Cooper shows:

Chances are, you think the comic strip Garfieldis one of the funniest things in the world. Why wouldn’t you? I mean, anyone with a newspaper subscription and a heart loves Garfield. But did you know that feline obesity is not funny at all? It’s a serious problem. Which is why Anderson Cooper was joined today on his daytime show by Meow, a 37-pound cat who can barely walk. Because nothing says serious topic like watching a news anchor attempting to juggle a cat the size of a sack of potatoes.

Meow is a rescue cat from Santa Fe and, as the shelter worker explained, 37 pounds for a cat basically equals out to a 600-pound man.

Not only is he (Yes, it’s a boy. Although Cooper had a hard time telling, likening the cat to SNL‘s Pat character) horribly unhealthy. He was also forced to make his big TV debut on a Monday. And fat cats hate Mondays!

A lot of Fat Cats on TV today…Check this out:

It sure is taking Newt a long time to say goodbye, but that is what he was doing today…things must be pretty bad, his snazzy purple tie is a bit crumpled, and that banner looks like a million dollars. /snark.

Seriously, what is with the pathetic streamers on that thing?

Then again, some Fat Cat’s have  the means to be a little more fashionable, and that includes their wives. This is the outfit Ann Romney wore today at some TV interview:

Today Mitt and Ann Romneyappeared on CBS‘s This Morning to talk about Barack Obama,Osama bin Laden, and a slew of other political things. Sharp eyes over at The Cut noticed that Ann was wearing a bird-printed t-shirt by Reed Krakoff.

Naturally, we had to get the scoop on the price. According to a saleswoman at Krakoff’s Madison Avenue store, the silk tee costs $990.

That about covers two months rent for me!

This is an open thread, have at it…

  1. You ever get a song in your head and can’t get rid of it?

Well this is what I got going in mine:

    • Seriously says:

Whatever happened to him? Eclipsed by his younger brother? Love some Elaine Paige:

I wonder if Big A ever gets angry calls from Rick Sanchez. Buffoonlike tendencies are more forgivable in Vanderbilts, I guess.

      • I don’t know what happened to him. I think that song was from a broadway play about chess…

      • Seriously says:

Yeah, that Elaine Paige/Barbara Dickson song is also from Chess. Weird that some of the songs from that show are still pretty well known when the show doesn’t seem to get produced much anymore, nobody’s seen it and it’s anybody’s guess what it’s all about, anyway.

Nothing says ‘just everyday folks’ like wearing a $900 tshirt. Yowzer.
